Dear friend,

Now, that's informative, though a curious lacunae.

We can all take that to the bank.

It's as valuable as my three-legged pig.

You'd better not have eaten that pig-leg! That would be breaking one of the Noachide laws and forever give up the right to be a "rigteous gentile".

Ignorant beyond measure!

The Meccans were idol worshippers--Abraham before Christ or Muhammed smashed the idols of Ur and Muhammed disdained the idols of Mecca.

He was driven out of Mecca by enemies and He went to the equally important oasis city of Arabia--Medina. There He was accepted by the people of Medina as a Prophet. Those who did not accept Him religiously entered into treaties with Muhammed and the city of Medina.

It was the Meccans who attacked Medina because the people of Medina sheltered Muhammed. The war raged some years, until the Meccans wore themselves out and Muhammed marched into Mecca by peaceful settlement.

The only jsut war in Islam is one in defense.

For a fair hearing by a non-Musloim scholar, I recommend Muhammed and the Course of Islam, by H. M. Balyuzi ISBN-13: 978-0853984788. The book should be obtainable new or used from Amazon or E-Bay or Barnes and Noble, Borders, or even from interlibrary load--contact your local librarian.

Regards,

Scott

I forget now, what group of Muslims still practice female genital mutilation, stoning for adultery and child marriage according to Sharia Law?

Whoops!!! the UN Human Rights Council says there is to be no criticism of Islam.

Female mutilation predates Islam by centuries, It's African in origin, by the way.

Jesus was almost stoned twice, so the punishment goes back to the Judaic tradition.

The UN council on Human Rights says no such thing. Do something drastic like ask for a copy of the UN position paper on female mutilation.

Scott, forget about origins and all that for a moment. Do the "good Muslims" (not the radical fundamentalists, etc.) still do things like female genital mutilation, stoning, and child marriage?

No. I can't think of anywhere stoning is considered a legal sentence other than Taliban Afghanistan.

The Sudan dabbles in female mutilation and Eritrea to some degree, in limited areas in ethnic cultures not national cultures.

The Arabs never condoned child marriage. They defined femal coming of age as one lunar month after their first menstruation back in the days of Muhammed.

OK, thanks. Because everyone who engages in those things should "miraculously" be smacked off the planet.

Scott------As recent as last year, a woman was stoned to death in Riyad, Arabia and I did not say that the UN endorsed female mutalation. They came out on June 29th, 08 with the HRC saying there was to be NO CRITISISM OF ISLAM. GOOGLE IT.

Was it the result of a Saudi conviction, and sentencing?

http://israelmatzav.blogspot.com/2008/06/un-human-rights-council-bans-criticism.html   ?

If so, then:

"The UN 'Human Rights Council' decided this week that it is forbidden to criticize Islam because "religious issues can be “very complex, very sensitive and very intense…This council is not prepared to discuss religious matters in depth, consequently we should not do it.” From now on, only religious scholars would be permitted to broach 'religious matters' before the Council. Robert Spencer explains how it happened.

“While Costea’s ban applies to all religions,” AP explained, “it was prompted by Muslim countries complaining about references to Islam.”

all emphasis added by me.

Scott

Was the stoning in Riyadh a legally endorsed punishment as a result of a trial or conviction?

Or was it a private act of violent attack?

It's the difference between a state execution under full authority of the law and a lynching, Lou.

State justice or mob law.

WHen the Klan lynched a black man in Georgia, they claimed to be Christians. Were they really Christians?
