Dearest berinwitness,

Bahá'ís on this forum have answered JBF's questions ad nauseum but he refuses to listen.

Britt, you say that he refuses to listen because he rejects your basis for the answers you give.  I do not think it is fair to say he "refuses to listen" he just doesn't agree.

Thank you. A Christian told me that his mother was a Baha'i, yet he could not name any of our books. A Christian on another forum claimed he was reading our literature, yet I was able to find out that he was only quoting from an anti-cult website.

2 Timothy 4:1-4
I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.

In my mind, that is essentially the same thing.

It doesn't matter though, does it?  He is firm in his conviction, as we all are.  JBF has expressed NUMEROUS times how he is tired of "the Bahá'í problem," many times over.

JBF, why are you subjecting yourself to this?

The sad result of this so-called "debate" is that many of the agnostic readers of these forums are ENTIRELY turned off by God PERIOD because of this incessant "debate".

JBF, you want to attract people to Christ - as do I, in fact! for He is a Messenger of God - but when we go back and forth, neither side reaching consensus, it turns people off.

Religion is meant to be a source of unity and reconciliation.  I just don't really understand why these Christianity vs. Bahá'í threads persist?  They are turning people away.

I know I am talking to a wall.

Ah, well.

Berin, you accept the words of Baha'u'llah in a literal way, yet you do not take the words of Jesus to be literal.  Why the double standard?

I've only been here for two or three pages but I can plainly see the truth of your statement. Also, just like every other Christian who tells me to give up Baha'u'llah, they don't want to answer my questions.

I'm only still here because I feel I have some sort of responsibility to read to the end of the thread. Actually, I want to get something to eat and then go to bed.

A very happy Ridván to you, berinwitness!

I sincerely respect and like you, JBF.  We serve the same God; why the constant fighting?

Sigh.

This persistant urge to divide is exhausting.

I wish it would stop!  Why can't we agree to disagree?  Why must you constantly drive the same arguments over and over again, when in the end there will be no unity of thought?

Does it serve a purpose?

Perhaps you feel the constant wrangling will attract someone to Christ?  That "saving" one soul is worth the endless headache?

Personally, as a former Christian, I fail to see how someone would be attracted to Christ through fighting and discord.

Who knows, though?  People do unexpected things.

I pray every night for unity on this forum.  We serve the same God, JBF.  Isn't that enough?

It is so frustrating.

I mean no offense, really.  I just do not understand why you persist....

Reason #1. That God may reveal His truth by His word.

Reason #2. As I just posted earlier, an elder/disciple of Jesus is to Convince, Rebuke & Exhort with all longsuffering.

Reason #3. As I do so. I get better aquainted with the teachings & winds of doctrine out there which better enables me to challenge things that are not according to Christ.

Not at all. I don't have any doubts about Baha'u'llah, but if something convincing comes along I will accept it.

Not agreeing is not the same as not listning!  I have heard the Baha'is, read many of their books and I do not see God's hand in the Baha'i faith.  Doesn't mean I refuse to hear you!:)
