95% of the town was destroyed in a tornado last night. So far 9 confirmed deaths. what they're calling a 'wedge tornado' cleared a path 3/4 of a mile wide. more storms on the way. offering prayers for those affected.

This is truly horrific. I'm afraid to live in the plains states for just this very reason. For those of you here who live in the plains, how do you sleep at night during tornado season?

Here last night we had tornado warning after tornado warning after tornado warning...I was up til 3 watching the radar...since my husband was working overtime and I was here alone...if it hadn't been for the storms I would have been here (online) more...but had to keep the computer off most of the night....can't afford another crash. I'm not fond of severe weather here, as we only have a nasty storm cellar complete with spiders and frogs and the occasional snake...so i don't venture down there unless I absolutely have to...and fortunately I didn't have to last night. as for sleep...i have no trouble sleeping...if i would have fallen asleep and a tornado came through I would be a goner. Once asleep, I don't hear anything....and I live in a rural area with no sirens. So I guess i figure if it's my time, it's my time.

I beleive that the majority of us living here on the plains have a pretty strong faith in Jesus and when we ask for his protection we recieve it. Also we adapt to our enviorment. I don't think I could live in an eathquake or volcano area, or in an area infested with bears or alligators or deadly spiders. We all live in an area of some kind that has its own unique dangers. We adapt. I've seen many tornadoes, I had a twister come through my place, while I was sleeping. If Jesus wants to call me home then I'm ready to go. Wether it be in a whirlwind or by disease, or lightening or by a bomb. Most of us that live on the plains have someplace we can go to shelter us. Most people clean out their storm shelters and are ready before tornado season strikes. I sat in my basement with a kerosens lamp listening to a portable radio playing cards last sat night for an hour while a potential storm went through. We take what comes and we deal with it.[url=javascript:emoticon('
