Marie, i have debated responding to your blog because i did not want to seem condescending. my honest opinion is twofold....when we have compulsions like alcohol or spending or any other thing it's usually because something is missing in our lives, so it's compensation for that. so you are uncomfortable with what you feel is a compulsion, i know you'll address it as you see fit. it's simply human and can conceal other issues.  ...as for emotional abuse, sorry, i take a hard line on that. it's a step away from further abuse. i hope if he goes beyond throwing things you'll tell someone and get the support you need. so you have an imperfection....he should not be abusive and exacerbate it. he DOES need the counseling, it IS his problem too. ::huggers::

I agree that what his reason for doing it he needs help too. Nobody deserves that.

Thanks LC and Hamster.  Now I am sitting here at work all teary.  Oh well.  I am going to start counseling to deal with the issues I have. Hopefully she can help me convince him he needs it too.  He may need to be double teamed on that one.

Marie, having just read your blog I think your partner needs some handling in anger management issues.  He should be understanding of you in your difficulties and not be attacking you in my opinion.  So, as you have said in this topic, he does need counselling himself.  However, I just want to wish you luck in your counselling and know that you can be strong.  I also wanted to say that you won't be the first in this situation and you certainly won't be the last.  There was a point myself when I was heading down the road of being an addictive gambler and then it wasn't until I had to admit it myself that I was an addictive gambler that I stopped gambling so much.  Thankfully, I am no longer gambling like I used to, I just do it for fun now. :littleangel:

Hi Marie

Just read the recent post of your latest blog and I hope that separation does not happen to you and your partner.  At least he is being honest about his anger but he should accept that he has an anger problem because whether it is verbal or physical, it is still a problem.
