I've got a carved one up on a ledge, and built the model as a kid. I never knew it had a steel frame.
The wood hull and some decks had been removed for the restoration, and the steel is still OK. It will just cost more to rebuild, which they still plan on doing from what I read.

Great classic boat to make another one is the Bonhomme  Richard I painted the sox on the deckhands!   ::blush::..........then ran real strings for the sails,............once done I dropped it,........................I cried, for 2 weeks. It took me a month to make!  .I'm such a loser!
