There's a great article in the paper today about a teacher that is challenging the Oregon laws about weapons in the classroom.  She has a spouse who has threatened her and she says she needs it to be safe and keep the kids safe.

I can see both sides of this argument, after all, I work at an alternative school that specializes in the at-risk child.  I have some hard-core gangsters who are complete sociopaths.  They don't see other people as people, just things.

I threw one out and got a bullet in my mailbox for my trouble.  The same kid is now charged with a cold-blooded murder where he shot an unarmed man three times, once in the back while he was down.

On the other hand, what if a teacher becomes unhinged and goes on a Virginia Tech style massacre?

Or would an armed teacher have prevented Virginia Tech?

I'm completely open to answers here.  I have no idea what's the right one.

I think in this day everyone should have a right to pack a weapon.  Teachers packing, could have saved lives in many school shootings!  The big question is HOW DO YOU KEEP IT AWAY FROM STUDENTS?  If they can work that one out..................I say go for it!
