So in our lives, the chances are that at one time or another you have brushed up against the Rich and Famous!

Who was it and what was the situation?

I was once working at a pizza parlor when I was a teen.  A large man came in and ordered a large pepperoni for himself.  He was the only one in the restaurant.

I cooked it for him and served him (it was a very small place!)  then I noticed that the elderly hispanic lady that worked with me was very agitated.  She said, "Do you know who that is?!!"  I replied, "Nope."  She said, "That's ROCK HUDSON! I'll bet he's down from Durango, where he's filming "Avalanche!""

I was unimpressed since I was young and hadn't really heard of him.  To me then, he was just some old actor my parents liked.

"Really? I'll go ask him.

"Are you Rock Hudson?"
"Yes, I am."
"Cool.  How was the pizza?"
"Great, thanks."

and he gave me a twenty dollar tip! (after scarfing down the entire pizza!)

Another time I was cross-training from cook to security for a big bar.  My mentor told me, "Whatever you do, don't let anyone in without an I.D."

So a bit laterr, along comes this young, bald woman with a huge entourage of gorilla-sized men.  They all had I.D.s, but she didn't.

Me: "I'm sorry ma'am.  You can't come in."
Big gorilla: "Hey! don't you know who this is?"
Me: 'I don't care if she's Barbara Bush.  Valid I.D or she can't come in."
Big Gorilla: "Now look, man..."
Girl: "Nevermind, Shakeesh, let's go over there."

So she leaves and the bartender comes over to me and says, "Did you know you just threw Sinead O'Connor out of the bar?"

No, because she doesn't have her ID.  ::chuckle::

lol!  Yeah, famous lines I should have said!  I actually felt really bad for her, because she went over to this empty restaurant and sat by herself with her little group.

I once had Gary Lewis (Jerry's son, and a singer himself) buy me a drink in a bar.  He was performing there, and I met up with him at the bar, he bought us both a drink, and we had a nice chat.  he seemed vaguely familiar, but I did not realize just who he was untill he was introduced to perform.  Oh well.

Good idea for a thread.  ::thumbs::

I use to work as a hostess in a small town airport restaurant (1980-81)...one day the Doobie Brothers plane had to make an emergency landing there, so they came in and ate.  I knew it was them because it said "DOOBIE BROTHERS" all over the plane.  ::chuckle::  I took them to their table and got their drinks, and rang up their tickets and took their money when they left, but i was so star struck i forgot to even ask them for an autograph.

But the thing i remember most...the whole band sat together...except Michael McDonald...he thought he was too good for them apparently, he sat at a table with 4 or 5 girls hanging all over him.  :eew:

too bad, i had liked him before that...but he was a tad toooo full of himself.

I am suddenly reminded of a time, back in the 80's when my dad went to visit my brother and sister-in-law, who lived in Greenwich Ct at the time. (Well, bro still lives there, but with a different sis-in-law, but I digress).  When he got home he said to me, we went to the movies and I sat by that meatballs guy.  OK, fine.  That meatballs guy.  I was thinking Chevy Chase who was in the movie meatballs.  I could not clarify who he sat next to, so I called my nephew..."Who did grandpa see at the movies?"  Turns out it was Meat LOAF..the singer.

I have met and known a few............most long before they became famous. I have known Willie Nelson for over 40 years, have met Patsy Cline, knew Janis Joplin and I admit....we did have a few drinks together.

This was long ago before any were well known............hell Willie told me he felt lucky to get 150 bucks a night for the whole band, of course these were just Texas bars.

Known or met a few others, but it was just be cause we ran the same road, and they wasn't famous............yet

Very rough saint......she was the same to day zip...............but 100% real and honest.

She and I grew up near the same place. First met her in the most grungy Texas berr joint you can imagine.....she was singing there and sounded exactly like she always did.

I bought her a beer......then she bought one.....I think
