From time to time, I attempt to write a poem. When my oldest daughter  was a few months old, I was watching her sleep one night, and I was paying attention to all the different facial expressions she was making. This got me to wondering what could possibly be going on in that little mind, so I sat down and wrote these few verses.

 Baby’s Dreams

I’ve often wondered what it is
A baby dreams in sleep
What can make them smile and laugh
Or often frown and weep
Do they smile from dreams of beauty
Like butterflies and such
Or of the warmth of mother’s breast
And of her gentle touch
Do they cry from things foreseen
From their future life
Like war and hatred and other things
That come from a world of strife
Yes I have often wondered
Of their happiness and woes
But my questions go unanswered
For only God and baby knows.

Excellent poem, muddawber!  Have you ever wrote a book of poems that you could have published?

No, I haven't. Over the years, I've lost a lot of my writings, due to moving around too much.

I think everyone here who's watched a baby sleep will identify with this poem.  It's beautiful.  It's sweet when a child touches a mans heart like this.  You have an incredible gift with words..........
