This is one I wrote during my tree hugger days.
Mother Nature and I
Sitting on the rivers edge
The day is warm and clear
The gurgling water the sighing wind
Are the only sounds I hear
As I watch the water flow
I think of days gone by
Remembering how things used to be
For Mother Nature and I
There once was laughter in the wind
And white clouds filled the sky
Everything was beautiful
For Mother Nature and I
The fields were green the waters blue
The birds were flying high
In the distance snow capped peaks
Reached up and kissed the sky
Every creature great and small
Was living side by side
That was before the destruction of man
Came rolling like the tide
They destroyed the trees and animals
And filled the air with smoke
They dumped their sewage in the water
And caused the land to choke
Remembering how things used to be
A tear comes to my eye
For mother nature is no more
Now all alone am I
