Do you have any stories of dumb / stupid things that you did?

Here's a couple of mine, (although I have many more!)I was up at Kennebec Pass
and I decided to explore an ancient mine shaft up there. (similar to this one)

Only...I didn't have a flashlight.

I went in about two hundred yards, until the light of the entrance was too low to show the ground anymore, then my friend got scared and went for a flashlight.  I waited until he came back and then shown the light around the tunnel and then at my feet.

Imagine my shock as I saw that I was standing right on the edge of a bottomless shaft.  One more step would have cost me my life.

Also, one day when I was young, I was cliff diving at Navajo Lake. Some other kids had taken the place we usually dove, so we hiked around to the other side of a horseshoe inlet to dive.  The cliffs were about 50 feet high.  The water looked deep (Navajo can be as deep as 300 feet) so I dove in.

Imagine my shock when I saw large boulders flanking either side of me underwater.  I had dove in the only space between them where I would not have been instantly killed.
