Thanks LC, yeah, I'm rather fond of her work.

here's one she wrote about me....based on a true story....granted i was 8 at the time.

Hot Dog

Wild eyed Amy, eight years old,
rushes breathless through the door,
hugging doggy fluff of white,
stands him on the kitchen floor.

"Tick! A tick!" Fear fills her eyes.
"Do something! Hurry!  He might die!"

I sense a crisis, spring to action,
'rubbing alcohol' I pour,
enough to disinfect an army,
on the insect we abhor.

Stubborn as a balky packhorse,
tick refuses yet to budge.
A hot match applied to beetle?
Strike it...find that I misjudge!

Pouf!  A blue blaze leaps from puppy!
In shock I know that I'm to blame;
grabbing for the picnic blanket,
thinking I can quench the flame.

Amy, screaming wildly now,
jumps up and down on folded blanket,
deaf to pleas to move her over,
blocking my attempts to yank it.

In one swoop as if rehearsed
I lift out Amy, lock the screen,
seize the blanket, wrap the dog
and snuff the fire inbetween.

Passive puppy, calm, collected
rolls his eyes from side to side,
raises doggie eyebrows upward.
What next will he take in stride?

Subdued and quiet enters Amy,
cradles dog against her cheek.
They survive but I am crumpled...
The fourteenth crisis yet this week.
