I have few pieces that I plan to sell, but have no idea what any of them are worth. I know that the worth is based on what people are willing to pay. I just don't want to get taken.

Also, can anyone make a referral or a suggestion that could help me on this quest?

I have pics I can post if that would help.

Thanks a bunch!::giveflowers::

If you snap a few pictures I could maybe put a year and manufacture date to it. Take a pic of under the cushion and the back of the chair. I would be more than happy to check it out for you.

A set (4) is always better than a pair(2) but sometimes I find people that only need one to finish. If you are in N.E. I know a guy that uses the same period tools to recondition old furniture. Please post again as I am very interested in old period furniture........................Danl

Yes, sometimes. Sure wish I owned one of those garage sale trash items that turns out to be worth a mill or two.

High estimate.........all pcs as a set........7,500............low @........3,500........

The 3 draw bureau and the 6 draw is a nice set. And matches these would be the main items. The curio glass is 1930 and may sell for 1800 those are big sellers today.

My advise is unless you need the money right away save them, use them and enjoy them the market is a bit down now and the bureau set would sell better with the bed set that goes along with it.

Either invest in the frame (the dressers came with the bed) and wait a bit or sell to someone that has the mirror dresser. Also your set may take 3-4 times at min bid to sell at the proper price.

Alot of people ask me a price but unless you have a buyer and an idea of the era built. Its best left to an auction house. My best est. on a sell price would be 3,500 minus the 15% auction fee. plus transportation which should be paid by the buyer.

Sorry it took so long to give an estimate.but I would rather be lower than higher especially on a forum good luck and I hope that you use the furniture at least until you sell it......................Danl

WOW! Thanks a bunch librtyhead, for all of your research! I really didn't expect to hear any more about those pieces.

Your Question:

A quick question, is the top section detachable or can the top section be taken off just by lifting it. Also the front looks "laminated" the handles look original which is good. This looks Georgian. Also does the ball or foot at the bottom of the chest just show an upturned ball or a claw and ball. Chippendale does not show a ball and claw on any catalogs pre 1900.

The top section is not detachable. No lamination. Lemon oil. The foot at the bottom of the furniture is an upturned claw with a scroll on the outer toes.

Something I like about the tall chest is that when the bottom drawer is pulled out, it is completely covered with a cedar top with hinges. Inside it is cedar lined! Very cool.

The scroll work on these are great dust catchers eh?

A little, but dusting it is a labor of love.

Wowzers!  I love the burled maple.  Have you checked them for maker's marks?  If so, Google it and you may be able to find out a lot about the furniture.

Thanks for sharing.
