here is a picture of the bus...all of the exterior painting is done now though...the lights and mirrors are all turquoise and the hood is 'lilac'.  also the rims are all painted chrome now too.

Here is what I did this past weekend.

It was supposed to be a project for both my husband and myself...but he's been working sooo much overtime, I decided to just do it.   Not bad, if I do say so myself. ::thumbs::

I stained it all last night (not pictured), still need to varnish everything, but the construction is complete except for permanently affixing them to the walls, which has to wait til after I varnish them...hopefully next weekend.

I think I'll let my husband cut out the hole for the sink basin in this counter.

And on the opposite wall I built these shelves from scratch.

All in all, a pretty productive weekend.  :)

Another thing we did this summer...we painted some of the windows outside with Chalkboard paint....my daughter and some of her friends decorated them for us a few weeks ago, here's a sample...::sgrin::

didn't manage to take it out this year...but it will be ready to go first thing in the Spring. ::thumbs::

thanks!

so far, so good, with the chalkboard paint...of course if it rains it washes the artwork off...and i suppose if it gets pelted with alot of gravel it will probably cause pock marks...we primed it first and put 2 coats of paint on, and it seems to be okay so far...but as I said, we haven't taken it out yet...so time will tell.

we also painted the table inside with it, and my husband spent hours doodling on it...now i can never erase it! ::rotfl::(he won't let me).

What you gonna DO with it ?

The reason for it will surely effect our opinion of it ?

What is its purpose ?

Years ago someone had taken a trolley car and turned it into like a school house.

Your bus reminds me of that.::appl::..............looks like fun.::rockon::

perhaps someday....but my husband is not Baha'i, so not routinely.  Though the chalkboard windows will allow for some subtle messages if I so choose.

if you look at the first post....the second picture shows one window I painted on the inside.  :bigwink:

actually some friends of ours were really disappointed we didn't paint it just like that!  :lmao:

some of the windows were already painted black, but needed touched up....and a few others needed something in the windows, i.e. to keep the sun off the fridge, and to shield the beds, and i ran out of the material i used for curtains...so this just seemed like a viable option...it's just kind of an experiment.  Time will tell if it was a good option. :bigwink:

Progress today! ::thumbs::

the little bench on the right has a hinged lid and is intended to be a tool box.

I love when things just work out...I was looking around the house for things to put on the shelves...and this little cabinet just happened to be the right size...it will work perfectly for utensils and stuff...it even has a locking mechanism so the drawers won't fly out while we're driving.

the counter on the right in this next picture is one I made 20 years ago.

It's almost like it was made for this.

I'm pooped!

We dropped it off for a tune up and oil change last Saturday.  Getting it ready to take out this Spring.  Also, when we got it, the previous owners had redone the ignition, and had bypassed all the switches for the interior lights and fans ect.   So we asked if they could rewire things so the switches worked.

Yesterday my husband got a call from the owner of the shop and the mechanic (conference call-which kinda freaked him out).  His first thought was "uh oh...they're calling to tell me it has major problems."  But nope...they were calling because they were soooo impressed with the work we had done on it.  My husband set it up with an inverter system, so we can plug it in or run off of a double battery system.

The mechanic pulls everyone who comes into the shop aside to take them on a tour of it.  He wishes it was his...which is good, as he's working on it like it was his own.  He said the engine is in excellent shape.  He wouldn't worry about taking it anywhere, it'll get us there.  They did the rewiring we asked for and everything works now.  It's like brand new!

They asked my husband if he did the cabinet work?  He said "No, I had it done  ................................................................................................................................by my wife. :bigwink:"    They were amazed!  :bravo:Said I should do that for a living.

We get to pick it up tomorrow morning.  ::sgrin::

not normally one to brag...but :sorry:can't help it....we're just tickled pink!  :cloud9:
