On departing with her goodies Mary-Anne said:

      I came here today with the coveted pearls that were given to my husband from his mother. These have been a much loved set that his family had a hard time deciding who would get them. I did not want to wear them as they may be to expensive to lose. Well I found out that they were just ground up fish scales with cement. Now I do not want to wear them because they are ground up fish scales.

i really enjoy Antiques Roadshow a lot!

especially when they are in Europe.

my Mom loved to go antique hunting, here in US and in Europe too. she left an astounding and wildly valuable collection of meissen china. i gave that to my brother to keep in the family, and i kept some staffordshire.

As I was watching today I saw a guy whose Father played major league baseball in the 40's he had a story or two about his Dad and realized how much I appreciate the stories behind the things people bring in. In America most things are not over 2-300 years old but the Europeans bring in really ancient stuff, and that is fun.
