I was tearing apart a bathroom and found this in the corner under the medicine cabinet. It looks like a little side burn trimmer from the 40's. The razor was wrapped in paper and I would be hard pressed to find more. I snapped a pic with my hand in it to show scale. You just never know what will be found in old walls and I often think of 100 yr old houses getting demolished by a crane when I find stuff like this. I am 100% sure that some places in big cities that get completely crushed has tiny treasures like this never to be found.

It was totally enclosed in the capsule and I thought it was just lip-stick at first. I find lots of lipstick cases.

It's really small, and the razor is still sharp enough to shave with, I know I tested it.::sgrin::

Cool stuff. Funny, behind a medicine cabinet, sort of in the attic beams, I found someones World War 2 little bible book they gave out to soldiers. I made an effort to locate one of the owner's relative, but no luck. I will try again sometime.

Back in the day ballon framing was the way to go, everything fell to the cellar, thats why I like to check out old cellar holes. Most things are found around the perimeter of the foundation especially coins and heavy metal stuff. When they do a demo thats the place to look. But you mostly find nails and crap. If you can get into the building with a sledghammer and a shovel and a mesh screen to sift through it over a wheel barrel before they demo you can find some funky stuff. Especially in a city where the walls are old. Some places have been there for 150 yrs. I like to crack 6" above the floor in the wall with a hammer.:)

A very lucrative find in old houses is mercury pooled in drain traps and such.

Mercury brings a high price per ounce in recycling.

Scott
