Battle cars - 1984

Battlecars was the first game I bought that had a Max Max feel to it.  Set in a post apocalyptic world, players each create their own battlecar using a car reference sheet and counters to indicate what kind of weapons the car was carrying and, how much armour and ammo the car had.

Counters were added or removed as ammunition and armour was lost or gained during gameplay.  The gameboard itself was a large plain square of roads, paths and junctions etc, large coloured counters depicting buildings from above were placed onto the board according to a list of floorplans provided with the game or players could create their own.

Between 2 and 4 players battled it out until only one car was left intact.

The game was given a supplement boxed set called Battle bikes a year later that listed instructions for player using tooled up motorcycles along with 4 motorbike reference sheets.

Here a pic of one of the Car reference sheets that players customised with counters.

That reminds me of the game "Risk" I would try it on these cold winter nights coming up. Board games are a sure fire way to bring family and friends together.
