We seem to collect old license plates alright.  The trouble is, we are still using the vehicles they are attached to!

About 10 years ago, I started collecting license plates from different states.  At the time, I was in the Army, so it wasn't difficult.  I ended up with forty some different and then lost interest.  I have since given them away.  But...it was fun looking at the different designs and colors.

I've got hanging in my garage, 4 plates from the Empire State,

1955

1957

1958

1959

All are GR-334

A fellow I know in the city who some people know as crazy frankie found them after he took over a building on Watt's street which is 1 block long off of Canal. There was a 1956 also which he ripped in half. Said that's his birth year . After he ripped that plate in half he gave me the others.  Frankie collected money for friends. Glad I'm considered a friend.

I'd really like to know who GR-334 was.

Try e-bay. I found a set of new 1971 Texas plates to put on a '71 Vette I owned. I sold the Vette, but still have the plates since it went off to Arkansas.

When I was a kid I had 4 or 5 boxes(big apple boxes) of license plates raging from the 20's to the 50's (mostly Kansas). Alot of them were in nice shape. I also had a couple of boxes of bottles that I had dug out of old trash sites. I remember there being a bunch of old wooden tube radios ranging from small to great big. I lost all of this when our barn burned to the ground in 1986. My dad lost a lot more than me. When the fire was blazing the sheep that he had ran right into the barn and a lot of them burned to death or sustained bad burns. I remember him treating our sheep and hogs for burns for awhile after that. I really miss that old barn. A lot of fond memories there!! Like when I found my dad's Penthouse magazines in there!!:D

I think that license plates are cool!!

The North West Territories has a very unique plate, it is in the shape of a polar bear.  Very cool, I don't have a clue how to post a pic but here is a link.
