::wiseman::  Saturday 28 April 2007  :littleangel:

Saturday started with an early call from my oldest son, Brian, worried about his

brother Mark.  Is the end of a 2-year relationship for the lad, and he is hurting.

I need to keep myself occupied so as not to think on the problems I have in my own

relationship so have spent most of the day trying to teach myself the math I need

for my Level 2 exam.

I am taking part in a local BBC Radio DRM trial.  Reception has been great all

day, but is now dropping out.  I think the same happened last weekend in the

evenings, need to check my diary.

Rhiannon is now in her favourite place ...... curled up on the bed with me!  Katie is laying nearby, snoring as usual!

Sunday I hope to see my friend fly over ...... and maybe get to meet her for the first time.  Una is in her 60's and flies a 2-seater 'plane.

::whello::Sunday 29th April 2007

Una called me late morning to say she had landed at Plymouth airfield, so we arranged to meet.  First time I have been to the airport so, of course, I got the wrong entrance to start with lol.  Asked an employee and soon got to the right place!  Una and I recognised each other from the photos on JG's BBC website 'Rogues Gallery', and were soon chatting away like old friends.

Had a look around the 'plane she had come down in today which belongs to a pal.  Her own machine is having it's MOT right now.  We then had a wander around the other Vintage Aircraft at the Rally.

Their take off slot was at 2pm, and the time passed very quickly.  Una has a couple of photos of us together which she will send me soon (I hope!).  I took a load of pictures as they were leaving; they can be viewed at my PhotoBucket Album
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v333/DFQuest/BBC%20Radio%20Devon/Una/

I was tired and achy by the time I got back home ...... the effect walking around on grass has when you live with Fibromyalgia :(  Once I had caught up with meds, and crashed out for a while I was back in the land of the living again! ::nsmile::

Spent the evening writing a tutorial for a Group on MSN ........ for opening and using an account with PhotoBucket.  (Let me know if anyone here would like a copy!)  Just having my 'GoodNight' snuggle with Rhiannon while I write this!

Had a brilliant late evening out!  I always listen to our local BBC Radio Station (Devon).  A year ago the late show was taken on by JG (John), who has worked hard and built up a super following of listeners.

Over 200 of us met up tonight at the Reel Cinema and Plymouth for a 1st birthday party ..... broadcast live on air from 10pm until midnight!

John had organised live bands and guests ..... including an interview with Alvin Stardust, one of the ex Blue Band, and the doctor from Eastenders who are all appearing in Plymouth this week.

Madness and mayhem was the order of the evening, and a fantastic time was had by all!

I am tired and achy, but it was well worth it!

I start my new placement this afternoon, and have one of my colleauges round in the evening as I am helping her with her English.  Think I had better get some sleep in at some point!

Friday 4th May 2007  01:30 am

Where has this week gone?  The new placement went well yesterday afternoon.  Met some of the other Staff and Volunteers, and got to know my way around as a member of Staff rather than a Student.  Still have to meet the 'Big Boss' as she was away at a meeting.  Left my NRA with the Receptionist so that she can take copies of my certificates for their records.  Found it nice, but also a tad draining to be back in a modern office environment again ...... the Learning Centre I have been at the past year or so is far more informal!

Checked through my colleagues' results for her English Mock, and we solved her errors!!  Spelling is a problem, as has been for me, so today I presented her with a WordSearch Booklet!   Various crossword magazines got me from a babbling wreck with absolutely zero confidence to where I am today.

Skills for Life class today was a little too informal!!!  Funding has run out for child-care .... which means we were missing students.  Also, as  result of a power failure, I was unable to get the wireless network running; so I have no internet connection, and no printer link.  Our Line Manager is in Cyprus on a 2-week holiday, the secretary is ill, and the rest of us have either no idea where to find the paperwork we need or the keys to the filing cabinets where the information may be!

I run my Intro to Computing class there Friday afternoon, usually offering a mix of off-line and on-line study.  Well, guess it will be all off-line today, and everything will have to be saved to disk and printed from the main pc!  Should be a fun session!

This afternoon Carole and I
collected all of our groups files from College, where the Internal Verifier had been looking at them, and delivered them back to the other girls.

Then back to my place to print off a mock test paper for Carole ........ couldn't access them from work!!  Carole and her husband are at present going through all the checks to become Foster Parents; today they asked if I could complete some sections of a form needed for evidence of their suitability.  I suddenly realised how far I have come myself ........... I am now in a position to do this sort of thing!

Next is to do this research for the forms for Operatives and Chemicals.  I am Company Secretary, Admin. and learning Health & Safety for a friend who runs an Industrial Deep Cleaning Firm.

Where on earth has time gone?  This year is flying by!

The photos in the previous post are of my family.  I hadn't seen my eldest son, Brian for nearly a year until I got a phone call to say he was driving the tour coach for some OAP's about 80 miles away from me.  The dogs and I duly hot-footed it over to spend a few precious hours with him.

This week saw the last of my classes locally for The Budshead Trust; mixed emotions as I am sad to be leaving and see the place close, but excitement at the new opportunities that are opening up for me.  The Trust has played a very important part in helping me settle to my new life in Plymouth; I have made some wonderful friends, and hope that we will keep in touch as we move on.

Have had my head down in my study books much of the time recently, taken and passed my Level 1 Literacy; taking Level 2 next week.  I attended a training for the British Citizenship tests ....... that is an eye-opener!  I have the study guide the candidates learn from; they have to learn things about GB that I never knew!!

My Brian (fiancé) is improving slowly healthwise; we still have a way to go but things are heading in the right direction.  Friends from the BBC Radio that I listen to (and run a forum/chat for) have been sending energy to him, which has been a wonderful help for us both.

Thank goodness pain levels have been at least controllable recently.  I have way too much going on to be struck down right now!  Must try to add my next post a little sooner!

Wow ...... where have the weeks gone?!

Went out last evening with the girls I have been working with at The Budshead Trust.  Mixed emotions as that marks the end of our time working together.

Got home at 2 this morning!!!   Meal was lovely ........ cost us £15 each which was quite good, including drinks and a tip.   We then went to The Navy Pub ...... not bad in there, some of us could just sit, while the others went round to the dance floor.   Somehow we managed to get split up as we left there, turns out they had gone back to the dance floor!  Teina and I made our way to The Blues Cafe ...... sent Annette a text so they knew where we were!  Perfect timing .... Christian Sleep was just about to start a live set!  That was it ....... Teina and I stayed put until Christian finished.  Christian played a fantastic set ......... including an absolutely brilliant cover of 'Stairway To Heaven'   We all met up there, though the dance pair disappeared to another club for a while.  Think we were all ready for a cuppa by the time we got home!

There are a couple of photos in my 'Hana' Photo Album, but afraid they are not very good quality!

College work has been going well; passed my Level 2 Literacy, needed for the Adult Learner Support Level 2 Portfolio which is to be handed in finally on Tuesday.  Have also been working on the ITQ  Level 2, and Numeracy Level 2.

Bri took me to Burrator Reservoir last weekend, a most beautiful place to visit on Dartmoor.  Photos in my 'Days On Dartmoor' Album http://www.24hourforums.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=655

In my free time (!) I have been working on a new website for the BBC Radio SouthWest Listeners ........ my efforts can be seen at http://www.devonlistens.org.uk.tc

This year is flying by so quickly!  I have either reached 'that age' or have filled my life with so many activities!  Not that much changing in the flat; still needs decorating and sorting, but the Girls, Yugi and I are quite happy as things are.  Yugi is now known as Yugi-Houdini ...... he is quite an escape artist LOL

My neighbour calmed down, though I have not seen much of her.  She sent me a beautiful bouquet of flowers as an apology.  I am still hoping that Margaret will attend class to learn to use the computer.

I am so pleased with my achievements at work and study.  I have just coped with being at the office every day for a fortnight covering for the Receptionist while she has been on holiday.  It was quite a challenge, but I did it LOL, think I will now sleep for a month to recuperate!  When I am awake though I will be covering for two of the Tutors!  Only a week this time, and mainly marking which I can do online from home.  Friday morning I will be providing Tutor Duties at the office.

I now see the Chiropractor every three weeks, Wayne is very pleased with my progress.  Unfortunately  I haven't seen or heard from Bri; the post-op depression has struck him badly.  He know he has my support but has chosen to keep away from everyone. :dunno:

For myself I wish there was pain-relief that was effective immediately!  I still hate mornings. The pain is indescribable; while it lasts I am unable to do anything, be anywhere, sit, lay, stand; whatever!  Thank goodness I have trained my body to 'crash' at this stage until the levels become bearable.  The Manager and my Colleagues at work are super, very understanding and caring.

There is a reason for everything; I do wish I knew the answer to some of what I experience.  Guess one day it will all become apparent!
