This story is titled the trip, it tells about how i met my wife rina, and the odds we had to overcome to become a couple, also it tell of the problems faced by us being a couple Well back in 1992 i was 17 and life had dealt me a really bad hand, my mom died in front of me at 3 A.M, my life as i knew it was gone and me and my highschool girlfriend split, plus i moved in with my mom's sister and her husband, started a new school After about a month things started to settle down for me, then that day i met rina's sister vicki and her husband, she said that she had a sister who was single,a virgin and 21, i said"Ok set me up with her then" so things were set up, the next night i called rina and chatted for an hour, she sounded so nice. well my luck after that call became very good, her sister called up a week later and offered me a ticket to go with her and her husband to the philippines, i took the offer. but as things would turn out nothing went according to plan First thing is that we found ourselfs in Taipei, Taiwan in the airport while the govt officals looked our passports over, things went very bad then my passport was good vicki and her husband's weren't, so then i had a choice to either go to the philippines by myself or go back to the US, i said"philippines for me", so vicki called her family in the philippines and let them know i was on my way. one thing i learned very fast is how much problems you can encounter on a trip. well after a tiring 20 hrs on the plane, i landed in the philippines with a serious case of jet lag. i found my bags and cashed my US money for Pisos, the lady at the branch office just handed me three huge rolls of pisos, well to my surprize and horror i went outside the building and realized that i had little idea on what rina and her brother looked like, i looked over a huge parking lot filled with people, cars, buses, cabs going and comming, i was lost for a bit then saw a guy and a very pretty woman looking my way, they waved and i knew it was them. so we loaded up my bags and stuff into the brother's small car, rina was in back i was in front, that's when i noticed a 44 auto on the driver side door, i thought well this isn't good. we got to a motel and got a room just me and her two brothers, they wanted to talk with me man to man , i talked to them some then slept the next day i met the whole family including her TV/movie actress cousin Joymee, i was impressed by joymee's personality she didn't let her fame goto her head, after meeting the whole family, i was like this is nice, , after sometime in the comapany of the brothers who watched my every move when i was with rina, i asked them"what's the deal of watching us?" they explained that since they were her brothers they wanted to make sure that she was safe, i was like cool, but i had an uneasy feeling that something was going to happen and soon. so on the 4th day of my trip rina's brother said that i was to spend the night at his house, i was like fine and i needed to sort though some papers i had found, but then i had a funny feeling that somehow i was in for a big surprize, well i was getting ready for bed and in walks rina, i was like "Hello" her brother sticks his head in and tells me that since he had guests that were sleeping over rina was to spend the night with me, i was speechless, then to my total shock and surprize rina rolls onto me i was like this sure isn't what i planned,well as one can guess we had sex, i was amazed at her willingness not to say her interest, after i asked"Why did you do that rina?" she told me that she had already made her mind up to prove her loyalty to me, i was like "ok this is a very interesting way to prove that" i had never had a girl give her virginty up to prove her loyalty to me Needless to say her brother wasn't very upset at us which i was amazed at i had just done his youngest sister in his house, he wasn't very happy but not upset Then my uncle shows up in the philippines the next day Instead of asking about my wellbeing he asked "well did you have sex with rina ?"my Comment was bluntly"yeah why?" he started in on how things could go wrong my reply was for him to chill and let things happen, that night me,my uncle and rina went to a motel he got a room by himself and me and rina got the other room, well that night for me was filled with passion, more passion, and even more passion, the next day my uncle took one look at me and one look at the pleased looked on rina's face, his comment was"she banged you white as a sheet" i replied"no sh**" After 2 weeks in the philippines i had found some papers neded to start the process of getting permission from both The US and philippine Govt to marry rina and also found that rina was dead serious about our love End of part 1

PART TWO Well after i got back i was writting rina all the time, in one letter i asked for her hand in marriage, she wrote back agreeing, well at the close of 1992, i was on cloud 9 things went well after my trip, i went to school smiling and feeling good, when i got sad i'd always think of my trip and it brightened my day up, in 1993 i turned 18 and things were really going well, my friends noticed that i was happier and more pleasent, but i never looked at another girl, that was what drew many girls to me is the fact that i wasn't drooling after them, by the close of 1993 i was pretty well set. well in 1994 i finished highschool, moved out on my own, found a job at a pizza hut as a CMA, couldn't be a driver cause i had serious nightblindness, well that year my phone bills were high around $300, and had lots of letters from rina, living in a trailer park was fun, at the close of 1994 a rift was forming between me and my family after they tried unsuccesfully to stop me from carrying my goal of marrying rina out, i just kept with the relationship no matter what, in 1995 my uncle offered me a trip for 2 weeks to the philippines, i said"sure i'll go" But i told him that i was doing things my way, he agreed, so i told my workplace that i'd be back in two weeks and could i have LOA, they agreed to my request, so i flew back in 1995 to a whole mess of trouble, one it was typhoon season, and two election season in the philippines, well i was like"great this should go well",first thing to happen was rina's rich side of her family tried to impress me with their wealth, which my only comment was"Ok, you are rich so what?", then things went even odder, i was told that we were going to Muban which i said"why not" so we get moving at 2 A.M well things went ok till 7 A.M in the morning when to my horror i saw that the bridge we were to cross was missing half a lane plus a support, my sister in law chena told me that the bridge was damgaged in the 1992 typhoon and never fixed, my reply was"thanks for the info chena" while looking down at the rain swelled waters about 200 ft down, really didn't like that idea, so after that we went down a road with very bad potholes bumping along thinking to myself"this isn't very fun", we passed a Small graveyard of US WW2 dead, i shook my head,well we got to muban and my luck was there was a rally so i said"have fun i'm at home" well about an hour passed and Joymee came in i knew that i was fixing to be in the political rally like it or not, i was looking around at about 2000 supporters of my brother in law thinking what in the world do they think i am" cause not many US citizens were over there at least not in muban, so i sat though the whole national and local elections thinking how much i hated political rallies and political issues, my brother in law lost the election by 60 votes, so the next day after that the rain statrted and didn't let up for 3 days, i so hated water, the the typhoon a class AA hit, i was in a house on the hill when the typhoon hit, my sister in law happened to say that the house needed fixing, so that day and night we sat though the storm with no power, me and rina were not scared we were too busy having sex in the guest room to worry about things, well the typhoon died off and the damage was great, part of the house had heavy water damgage, plus 5 houses were destoryed 300 people died that night around the philippines cause of high water or mudslides. so a week went by One thing i learned very fast in asia bribes get things done so i did bribes to get papers that i needed to marry rina, well after two weeks i went home and sorted things out, well 1995 ended and i still had a huge promise to carry out and was no closer to making good on my promise, i thought that my luck had run out boy i was so wrong END OF PART TWO PART THREE COMMING UP Last edited on 04:57 am by Prince colin |

PART THREE Well 1996 came around and i found myself feeling empty and alone, i was still writing and phoning rina, every letter i felt like i had found gold, the letters brightened my days up and kept me going, but still my INS lawyer was doubtful that anything good could happen, so she quit on me, so i found anther INS lawyer, He quit after a week, After about 4 INS lawyers we found one that was really wanting to succed, so after those major setbacks, my family tried once again with no luck to get me to give up on rina, I told them to try harder, well things didn't improve much for the rest of 1996, seemed to me to be going downhill fast, but i still held to my promise to marry rina. by this time many people would of thrown up their hands and gave up, not me i kept at it. Later that year i got a letter from rina saying that her brother had won the local election and was mayor, i knew that could either be a good or bad thing for me, well 1996 came to a close with no news of my request Well in 1997 i got a letter from my INS lawyer saying that both govts approved my request to marry rina, all i needed was to go back over and marry her. no problem so i thought, but then the lawyer told me to get ready to live in the philippines for at least a year or so, so i gave my work notice and my landlady a notice that i'd be moving So i put most of my stuff in storage, got moved out.made sure that everything was updated, my manager refused my request to quit and put me on leave instead, which i just said"ok", well my uncle helped me buy a one way ticket to the philippines, i was very happy but sad at the same time cause i would be 6000 miles away from my family and my home. well after 20 hrs on the plane i had a mild case of jetlag when we landed in the philippines, rina and her brothers met me at the airport, we talked on the trip to the house, her brother said that he really was happy that i kept my word to them, his wife her name was baby, she looked maybe 34, she wanted to help me understand the culture that i was about to get into, i thanked her for wanting to help but said that whatever happened i could handle it, the next few days were spent traveling the backroads of the philippines, her other brother who was the mayor of muban invited us to his house i took his offer, The trip to muban was over rough, potholed filled winding roads, the view was amazing of the jungle, not many filipinos live in the jungle, so seeing other cars was rare, we saw a small gravesite where some WW2 US troops are buried i sliently thanked those dead soldiers for what they did, we got to muban around 5 P.M. i was hungry and happy, we got to the brother's house and saw waiting for us were, joymee rina's actress cousin, her two sisters chena and melen , their kids, chena's husband winney, cora rina's sister in law. well things went good that night and me and the brothers stayed up and talked for A bit, well the night was hot and muggy, i slept good to a point. well the next day was august 11th, we left muban and traveled back to luncea city, arrived at 3 P.M. we all got out at the brother's house and took baths, got spiffed up for the wedding, i was so nervous cause it was a big day for me, rina came down and i smiled. we got to the Quezon courthouse at 3:30 P.M., to my total surprize a PNP jeep pulled up i was like this is odd, her brother who was a capt jumped out with some other officers, he told me that he would meet us later at arron's house, from there he would take us back to Manila, and he jumped back into the jeep with the men and Left. i was like that's something odd for him to do, so we went in with two family friends who were to be witness to the marriage, well we went to the courtroom and the judge welcomed us i handed him the folder with papers, well the wedding got under way me and rina listened as the judge explained the vows and legal things to us, then me and rina exchanged the vows, and at 4 P.M. on August 11th 1997 me and rina were offically married, we came out grinning ear to ear, but my joy was shortlived when i saw a APC zoom by followed by a jeep mounting a heavy 50 cal gun. i knew something was going on and it looked serious. rina and me went to the brother's house and i turned the TV on, to my total horror The Philippine army opened fired on what they claimed was a rebel training ground, i knew that all hell was going to break loose. well the other brother came by with armed men, he told us that a civil war was going on and traving was deadly, my comment to him was we travel back to luncea city war or no war, so he nodded his head, well me and rina, her sister chena and her husband and thier two kids piled into a van, after traving for sometime a brightly lit heavy armed roadblock came into view, i then looked out to my right side and saw a APC with twin 50 cal pointing right at the van, I thought this is cute, a LT came up and demanded some ID, of course i'm not going to disagree with a guy carrying a M-16, so i handed him my passport and 2000 pisos, he got the drift fast and let us pass, rina asked why did i pay the soldier, i told her that money talks during a war, we stopped at a small town, i noticed that there were 2 APC's and 3 jeeps all armed and the soldiers were heavy armed also,they saw us and looked puzzled i just waved friendly at them, so after eating we came out the APC's and the jeeps were heading up a sideroad, my comment was"let's get out of this place" so we left. we got back to luncea at 9 P.M. much to my joy, and spent the night at the brother's house. the next day the radio was saying that a huge rebel attack was beat back 50 miles form muban, rina said that we were going to muban, i agreed much to the brother's objections, so we left got to muban, i noticed that the city was not as busy as usual. so we got to chena's house, her husband told me that muban was a open city, my comment was"thanks just what i didn't need to know" Me and him went to the store to buy food, on the way back we were in a tricycle and i looked over to my right, there was a rebel standing less then 10 ft from us, i asked him "i never knew you had women in the army?" he said"not ours" i was like oops the female rebel looked about 19, had a ak47 slung over her left shoulder, a 44 cal pistol on her belt, she had on a green uniform with a red armband on her right arm ,she heard me say that and looked, her eyes got huge with surprize as she saw an american right in front of her, i looked her over with a glance and nodded my head, she looked very confused. Well later that day a typhoon slammed into muban, it had wiped out an outlying island killed 498 people, the whole death count was 530 in the philippines, i saw mudslides,huge waves, felt wind over 100 MPH, not very fun We waited for the typhoon to quit and left muban the family had gotten us a house in luneca city so i saw the house and wasn't real impressed, it was a rental house at the end of the street, so that day me, rina, chena ,her kids and her husband winney went shopping, i had a great time looking though the black market goods,many sellers gave me discounts, even though i didn't want any. After awhile i was looking though some CD's to my surprize joymee rina's cousin showed up and saw me, i said"hey Joymee" she asked if i would walk with her down to the first floor, we both told rina were we were going rina said"ok" so on the first floor joymee was noticed and some people wanted her To sign some stuff she told me that being an actress wasn't fun, i laughed and said that she was good at acting, well we saw a lot of people at the door so we went to see, rina joined us, we saw a lady get out of a car, joymee said"another govt offical", i said"look ladies i stick out like a red dot on white paper" and could we leave,, so we left and went back to the rental house that we shared with chenna and her family, now about this time things are really bad with the war and all going on and the asia stock markets crashed, sending the philippine piso up to about 56 pisos to the US dollar, which for me wasn't bad, Well that year we had our first month wedding annerversry and i went out and bought a stuffed bear, yeah a stuffed bear as a gift to rina, rina was so overjoyed at the gift that she named it corina, colin and rina mixed together, her family was just tickled at the gift, that bear went everywhere we went, The bear named corina sits in her place of honor overlooking the bedroom Well after three years in a war torn country rina's visa was approved and we were told, well rina was willing to give her whole life in the philippines up for me just to be with me no matter where we went, i then made plans to go back to the states, in 2000 i we took a flight from the philippines to the US, after we landed my family was very uneasy and not happy, i noticed that things were going south,well they bought us a house as a gift and my grandmom gave us some oil stocks as her wedding gift, well after 3 yrs rina became a US citizen, that's when the trouble with my dad's and mom's side of the family My dad's side bluntly told me that they didn't like me marrying outside my own race, my comment was" get over it", then my mom's side accused me of helping kill my mom, she died of cancer in 1992, i bluntly said"shut up or show the proof", they eased off me and rina till 2004 they attacked rina by saying that she was after my money to which i replied that they could either prove it or go to hell, they tried seveal times to break us apart each time failed, cause of the loyalty bond that exist between me and rina, our loyalty and love for each other is stronger then any words, and on august 11th 2006 me and rina were offically married for 9 yrs, rina is a person who is kindhearted, smart, shy and unsure of herself still, rina's heart is filipino and always will be even though she is american, she wants to return to the philippines to which i said that we would, that made her so happy that i'd be willing to give my life up here in the states to be with her I learned about myself and another culture, i apply what i learned and blended it into my marriage, two cultures so differrent, but yet i have managed to blend both rina and my culture into a marriage that has the best of both cultures And one thing that amazes people is the total loyalty that we have to each other, we hide nothing from each other, we are up front and honest with each other, but what rina does is something that she was taught to do, take care of her family and her loved ones heck we take showers together, eat together, rina is always watching out for my well being, i in turn watch out for her well being and will defend her honor at all cost no matter what, rina told me one day that i have made her the happiest woman around, we still call each other by the nicknames that we gave each other in 1995, and the fact that we have reached 9 yrs of being married tells something about us as a couple In reaching my dreams i faced a great risk of failing, but yet i reached my dream and made another dream come true in the process, so i know that taking the risk i took back in 1992 was worth all the trouble i went though and the reward of having a sexy, smart, loyal wife was well worth the risk in my opinion Last edited on 05:56 am by Prince colin |

TRIP REFLECTIONS Now what i learned on my trips to the philippines was quite amazing, i learned that filipinos go on a honor system and that their word is their bond, they are open, hide nothing and are honest, but also filipinos have pride in their familes and their nation, they are proud to be called filipinos and remember those who died fighting for their country and rights, they have heros the ones who either died while fighting or led the philippines to greatness In the philippines family is first before anything else, the elders are not put into nursing homes there are none in the philippines, the older people live with family respected for their wisdom, when a family member is in need the family is there to help, i lived with my sister in law chena and her family cause they had fallen on hard times, i said"come live with us" they refused till i reminded them that they were my family now, i paid for the kids schooling, their food and clothes, not cause i had to cause i wanted to repay them for their kindness toward me, they were very impressed by my kindheart and caring nature The kids took to calling me daddy colin which was sign of respect, and some called me uncle colin, now i was myself impressed at how smart these kids were, and eager to learn about me and the US, i taught them words and their meanings in turn they tried to teach me filipino words and their meanings, we learned from each other and i learned more about the filipino people and their lifes, many are farmers and fishermen, they are poor but happy cause they have their family, money means something to them but the filipinos tend to shy away from being too greedy, now another thing i noticed is that filipinos do things slow and easy they take their time on things, the filipinos are proud of their past and having their own republic is something great to them, they still love the US even though we owned the philippines till 1992, they would rather have US troops back in the philippines Now the police force is undermaned and underpaid but the PNP still does a good job at fighting crime, rina's brother is following in the dad's footsteps, the dad was a LT COl in the PNP back in the 1980's, Smart and nice man from what i heard, he died in 1983 when him and 15 of his men went on a patrol and were ambushed, they died fighting to the last man, her dad was mortally wounded but he still fought on till he died Brave and fearless, the filipino soldier or policeman doesn't give up very easy, they will die fighting for the philippines and many have, those who died are called heros, now the philippines is run by a woman only the second time that nation has been run by a woman, but she isn't like any political figure known, she will rip into anyone including the US over matters that she see are important, the country is still very poor but recovering slowly, a hot spot for people around the world, the best shopping, nice beaches, nice resorts, and breathtaking views unspoiled, being there was like being on another planet Now it's hot and muggy there, in nov the typhoon season is underway, it can rain for three days without pause before a typhoon hits, mudslides are a common problem, over cutting the trees has left some of the philippines exposed, they are trying to fix the problem by growing new trees, the main food is rice and seafood in many parts of the philippines, you can find in the big cities american, japanese foods, filipinos are lean and skinny, but strong in both mind and body, the filipinos are hard workers and very creative in ways to make or fix things Now many filipinos i met were friendly that is their nature. they are very religious, and have strong faith Another thing athat caught my eye is the filipinas they are very beautiful women known for their bright personality, honesty and smarts, they are loyal to their loved ones and when a filipina said her wedding vows she means every word i learned alot from my trips and found my true love, i saw how our culture and their could be blended so i did that, and to my surprize it works I still apply what i learned in the philippines to my life and my marriage,and things are brighter then before Last edited on 07:33 am by Prince colin |

6 YRS AFTER THE 2000 TRIP Well on august 11th 2006 me and rina had our 9 yr wedding anniversary which pleased rina more then me, we went to see my grandmom who said that she was proud of us, and comming from a lady that is 97 and was married for 64 yrs before granddad died that is high praise, things have been going as usual, rina is still shy around people she doesn't know Now my grandmom who turned 97 this year told rina that she was very proud of us and she loved rina just like a daughter, now comming from her that is high praise She also tells people that i found her a granddaughter who is so caring about her, it makes rina blush with all the praise that granny gives her. Rina told me that her english was bad, to which i replied that it wasn't bad just accented with filipino, which many people find interesting to hear her talk cause of her heavy filipino accent and her spanish/ filipino looks. But poor rina runs into problems like race issues, hateful people, she comes to me for help and i will handle those problems for her, now i let rina explore her own ideas even if i know that her ideas aren't well planned, i figure she has to learn about life somehow but i still back her up 200% Rina's sister remy was amazed at how much freedom rina has as my wife, she can goto clubs, on trips by herself, go out with friends, i told remy "i'm her husband and i see nothing wrong with this", our loyalty to each other is total and she follows her wedding vows to the letter, just like i do. cheating is out of the question for both of us, too loyal to each other to risk it, we hide nothing from each other, totally open on all subjects and issues, i think that is one main reason our marriage is so strong we fully trust each other And our love and caring for each other is another reason for such a strong marriage Then there is the amount of passion that we have for each other, we both lose control when we are around each other in private, her sister remy commented that she has never seen rina look so pleased and happy, i told remy that rina's heart is mine as my heart is hers, remy said that she wondered how i managed to stand my ground when my own family turned on me, i said"us dickersons never back down and never give an inch" when rina wants to buy something we talk it over in detail same rule applies for me Rina will sometimes give me money for my coins, i split all money made selling coins with her 50/50 split my b-day check with her, rina does the same thing, on her payday i get 50% of her check, we made this deal in 1995 to share all that we got with each other No i gather that i'm very lucky to have rina as a wife and we both are lucky to have found each other

MY WIFE'S NEICE'S ORDEAL Well earlier this year my wife's neice r-joy who was 18 at the time collasped at her house for no reason, they called a ambulance which took her to the hospital, by the time they got there she was already in critical condition, doctors did test to figure out what happened to make her so ill, they found to their horror that her heart had become enlarged and was causing stress to her whole system, r-joy was awake and in a lot of pain due to her enlarged heart, that night they moved her into the ICU in very critical condition she almost died that very night but hung onto life The doctors gave her a 20% Chance to live, her family was stunned and shook by this horrorable news, they started to blame themselfs for not catching this problem early, r-joy despite her health problem focused on her family, her dad( My wife's brother) called up asking if rina could come to the philippines cause they really didn't think that r-joy would make it, i told rina to grab a ticket and get herself over there and that i was going to be fine, r-joy needed her there. so rina went and then over the next few days they again almost lost r-joy, she faced death three times and each time she fought back, it amazed the doctors that someone her age could fight so hard to live when many would of given up, by the first week she was slowly recovering her condition was upgraded to serious but she kept on getting better, the doctors gave her chances to live 60% By week two she was moved out of the ICU to a room where to her doctors total amazement her health was recovering at a fast pace, she called me up one day weak, tired but happy she told me that she was greatful for letting rina come over and for me offering to help pay her medical bills, she thought that she owed me for that i said"you just get better and we will call it even ok?" she agreed, the doctors found that her heart was seriously damaged a her main vein in her heart had suffered unrepairable damage, she was released from the hospital a week later Now r-joy is 19 and her health is back to normal, she is on meds to control her heart problem, but she faced death three times and never blinked, her problems seemed minor to her, she was focused on her family not herself, and the doctors can't explain how she went from almost dead to a fully health young woman R-joy understands that she almost died three times and yet beat the odds of dying, but many guess that her family was so important to her that her mind and body somehow responded to this, there is no offical explaintion for her being alive, basicly she should of died the night she came into the ICU and should of died those other two times, she is more careful of her actions and what she does in life, but she learned that even when facing overwhelming odds there is always that chance of beating those odds She was scared and frightend but didn't show it cause she didn't want her family to be any more upset then they were already, she kept herself from falling apart for the sake of her family and herself. I'm happy to have such a brave young lady as my neice

IN HONOR This thread is in honor of a great lady and a great teacher who though her teaching touched many kids lifes This threads honors my mother who despite raising two kids on a teachers pay, she found time to become a well known and respected high school science teacher My mom was a very usual teacher she listened to the kids and the parents ideas on how to improve her teaching and put some of those ideas into her teaching, she made learning a fun but thought provoking idea, and the kids loved this new approach my mom also had them do hands on studies of bugs, plants and other living things she taught them about chemicals and what they were made up of, she had them do studies on water, electrical current, and other things, the parents were impressed by her drive to help kids learn, she would stay late into the evening at the school either talking to parents, or to the kids or grading papers, she made sure that each kid was helped in her class, the school built a new school and had my mom move the old lab to the new school, then they named her the head of their science dept, which just pleased the kids, my mom took the time from being a teacher to listen to the students personal problems and gave advice when needed, the respect that she had in that small school system was amazing, the school board didn't give her any trouble they just let her teach as she saw fit to Then in 1990 she fainted at thanksgiving a test found that she had stage three cancer , my mom said that even though she was going to die she would keep teaching Well in 1991 sylvan learing centers had opened in waco and heard of my mom though word of mouth, they offered her a contract to become director of education for the waco based sylvan learning centers, she took the job with a heavy heart cause she really loved her old job, but soon she found that sylvan offered her more choices in ways to teach, she only had a year and 10 months to live, but she used that time to help the kids she tutored see that they could reach their dreams all they had to do is try, so she taught till that day in 1992 in nov when she became deathly ill she was rushed to the ICU but she had fallen into a coma by the time she was at the hospitial, she hung on till 3 A.M. the next day then she died at 49 yrs old, the cause was cancer that had spread to her main vein of her heart, the whole sylvan learning center in waco was shut down so the kids could attend her service, at the service i saw her former and current students pay respect to the lady they saw as both a friend and a teacher, it was said over 100 people came to her service, and gave her the credit that she so deserved but wouldn't ever take while she was alive the kids and parents that i talked to were stunned by her sudden death, they said that they never knew she was ill, i knew that my mom had told nobody not even her own family that she was dying till 1990, many gather she had the cancer in the mid 1980's but was so involved in other things she never went to the doctor I saw some of her students 2 yrs after her death they said that her death was still felt by many and that her memory would live on in the hearts and minds of those she taught, i was suprized that even in death her teaching was still felt by those she she helped though life All had reached their dreams and gave my mom credit for helping them reach those dreams, even one of her former students had named her daughter nancy to honor the lady who saw more in her then most people did I thought that was a kind thought but i found that even the Quote bad boys were saddened by her death cause she had paid extra notice to them and taught them that they could do more with their lifes the they were doing. My mom never thought that she would ever receve the honor and credit from so many that were reached though her teaching, she would be surprized that her teaching had such a far reaching impact on those kids Many have called her a great teacher and a great friend i'm one to agree with them cause i saw what my mom had done and how far reaching her teaching was To us kids she was a mother, and a friend who was there when we needed her but also taught us to stand our ground no matter what To the kids she taught she was a teacher who used her smarts and wits to teach them about life This thread is in honor of my mom NANCY DICKERSON 1943-1992 May her spirit help other teachers who teach kids

THE REBUILDING PROJECT Well after we moved back to the states we got a letter from her sister chena and the kids saying that the muban house was in serious need of fixing, so i told rina to tell them to begin work on the house and i would pick the bill up for the rebuilding job, well the house was in bad shape the front of the house had heavy water damage and the support pillers were cracked So they started to redo the whole bottom of the house, they expanded the downstairs by extending the existing room and replaced the wall and support pillers Pic #1 is the rebuilding of the bottom front part of the muban house  After about three months they were done with the front of the house and all the repairs the house needed Pic #2 the finished front of the muban house  The house is now updated with new wiring, new plumbing, new walls, new floors, and a deck, plus a newly expanded downstairs remy asked if i would look over the house when we went back in 2003, so i did the house still needs some minor repairs to the wooden support beams holding the second floor up, but the beams are made of coconut palm wood which is a pretty tough wood and for 30 yrs old they are in good shape but need a recoating of waterproofing. there is even talk of putting a generator in the downstairs so when the power fails the house will have some electric power, but nothing as of yet as been planned I was very pleased at how this house turned out and so was rina's two sisters chena and melen who live in the house with their families i redid the house so that my godkids could have a nice safe place to live, they have now painted the house and added a cement wall in the front and a gate. a wothwhile project fixing up a house that was a very dangerous ,wiring was bad, the floor was rotten in places and the plumbing was bad and it was just in bad shape, they never had the money to fix it up. I did this project cause of my godkids had asked me to help fix the house and i couldn't refuse my godkids request.

MY GRANDMOM Well we call her granny, and for 97 yrs old she is doing all right, she is still highly opinioned, will tell anyone what they did wrong and how to fix it This pic was taken this year of her  Now the thing about granny is she is very bluntly honest in what she says and the nursing home staff just shake their heads in amazement at how she can still have 20% of her mind at her age Another thing that is a sad burden for granny is that she outlived her youngest daughter (My Mom), she just can't understand why nancy (My mom) had to die so young, but granny is proud of how i have turned out, she is greatful that my mom taught me all she knew before she passed She is very proud of me and rina staying together for 9 yrs, and comming from a lady that was married for over 60 yrs till her husband died i take that as the highest honor comming from her, plus she is so proud of rina, she makes rina blush with all the praise she gives her remy's kids met granny one time their comment was that she couldn't be 97 and still remember the past and the present, i laughed and said that granny was impressed by their respect toward her. the kids told remy about them meeting my grandmom, remy's comment was"wow" Now when granny gives advice we listen she is after all 97 and knows excatly what we face, i take what she tells me to heart, cause she does know what she is saying Me and rina visit her everytime we can, we will be spending part of thanksgiving with her and then goto remy's house, but seeing me and rina cheers granny up, she is so pleased that her grandson has found his own path in life Now the family doesn't know if she will be around next year or not, that's a wait and see what happens thing, we know that her health is all right but is failing slowly, and she gets sick more often and that is a worry for all She calls me up and chats with me i'm always happy to hear her voice, people who meet granny come away with a sense of great respect for her, and her wisdom but this thanksgiving is going to be great cause i spend part of that day with a very important person in my life my grandmom

RINA'S FAMILY Well these are some pics of rina's family members First is of rina, her two sisters chena and melen and her two brothers arron and arneil  Now rina's brother arneil (In the white shirt) is a cop just like his dad was, arneil took over the raising of rina when the dad who was a LT COL in the PNP was killed in the line of duty, he raised rina with the help of the other brother and the two sisters arneil had two kids already and when he took in rina he was a LT, he made sure that rina went to the best schools, had good friends,followed the family customs. arneils wife baby raised rina like a daughter, she made sure that rina knew her culture Then rina's other two sisters remy and vicki also helped in raising rina,when the sisters married they still sent money to support rina's raising, the whole family took care of rina when she was young, and rina was taught that respect for her elders was a must and to respect the family honor. A pic of rina, vicki and remy  Rina's family was strict on her cause she was the dad's favorite daughter and the youngest so they were very careful about her not getting involved in anything that could harm, hurt or cause trouble for rina I gather being in a family where one side is politically powerful and rich and the other side is middle class to poor was tough, cause rina loves both sides of her family Now the lims (her dad's side) are very political powerful and rich, they treated rina sort of shabby, but made sure she had what she wanted in life, her mom's side loved rina and tried their best to give her everything, rina knew about hard work cause she worked for her family in a gym and hair saloon that they owned, rina is very loyal to her family she was taught that, she is respectful of their opinions and will listen to their advice When rina turned 21 the family was still watching after her, she lived with her brother still and had just finished college, when her family met me in 1992 they were unsure of me cause i didn't follow any rules set out, once they figured that i was one who did what he promised to do and would be by rina's side they relaxed the customs Now her family gave her the nickname "lelen" the dad is said to of given it to her They loved the nickname i gave her in 1995 "princess" and were pleased when i made our engagement offical, even today her sisters call her princess I met her best friend yollie in 1997 yollie was a schoolmate of rina's back in highschool, she would watch after rina and take her out, but always watched out for rina's well being, rina went for advice from yollie many times, now yollie knew about me cause rina told her about me she wanted to meet the man that caught rina's eye When she met me we talked for awhile, she laughed and said that rina was right about me i was to the point, i met her husband who liked me right off the bat cause of my blunt ways A pic of yollie and rina  Now rina still helps her family out, and is very family first, her family is glad that i'm so open minded on things, they have said that rina has grown into a sexy,loyal, happy woman And here's a pic of me and rina in 1995 after i made our engagement offical  I'm glad to be a part of such a nice family who loves and respects me for who i am not what i have, i also help them out when i can, her family feels that they owe me a debt which i told them that they owed me nothing, the reason they feel that way is cause of my kindness that i have shown to them Helping rebuild a house, trying to help pay off r-joy's medical bills, sending them money for the kids schooling, give advice when i can I did all that cause they are my family
