This year I am raising the long snake gourds. Haven't figured out what I am going to do with them yet but looks like I will have a good many of them.
Diamond doves are one of my favorite species of doves. They are one of the smallest of the doves and have a nice bell sounding call. Come in several different colors and are easy to raise.
Oh I'd love to see some pictures of the birdhouses you've made. How about hanging the long gourds from the top, and making a bird condo out of it with several holes running up and down? Of course, having only one hollow inside, the ones on the top may not like the fall to the bottom! Hopefully, they'd know to only use the bottom hole!
I've never heard of such Doves. I'm only familiar with the cooing sound the white doves make. I'll bet you enjoy listening to them........... Is that a peaceful sound, like the cooing sound the white ones make?

Yes, I do make bird feeders out of some of the gourds. They are very easy to make. Unless you paint them they will not last but a year or two, but that is where I live. We have a very high humidity.
Don't know for sure what I will do with the long gourds. They are still growing. I like to let them dry over the winter before I do anything with them. By then you can cull out the thin ones.
The cooing sound the diamond dove makes is very much like the white doves, just not as loud with a more bell like sound. They are about the size of a sparrow.
When the price of silver was down I bought a few tubes of silver eagles thinking to sell them when silver went up. Like most things I just can't seem to let them go. I am probably more of a hoarder than anything else. Sounds bad but I just enjoy having them.
