Sweet Pea wrote: NO animal should be left unattended with ANY child, I'll give you that, Hi... I don't see how showing the vast majority being happy or without victims negates my point. If that wasn't the case it would be so over-the-top ridiculous that they are pets near other people, kids or not, we would probably not being having this conversation. I don't have to hear about those happy cases because I already believe it! My points where about the other ones and judging whether or not their extraordinary ability to kill and damage quickly and the unusual difficulty in the average person stopping them once they are on should be considered. Again, saying how other dogs can be dangerous or naming situations where any dog is dangerous does not negate the validity of my point about classifying dogs with extraordinary kill and damage bite ability differently.

I don't see how you can classify them differently, then. And I don't think the word "extraordinary" should be used with them in this context. Finding out a dog's bite pressure is almost impossible. You can't hand a dog a meter and say "Bite down on this as hard as you can please" and measure, it just doesn't work that way. There are people who will give you approximates, but then it gets down to what is the difference to human flesh (if you will) if one dog (or breed of dog) has bite pressure of 750 psi and one has 800? Or one has 250 psi, even? 250 psi bite pressure is enough to tear flesh and cause massive bleeding. Who do you put on the job of picking out which ones are "bad" and need not to be alive, Frank? Really, who decides? Who tells all those people to give up all those beloved pets because maybe 1 percent of their breed is bad and bites and kills? Which vehicles do we take off the road because they hit and kill people? Profiling anything like that is slippery slope, Frank. I know a lot about dogs, and I sure as heck don't want to be the one to pick them out or "classify" them, either. Me, I'd rather "classify" irresponsibile owners. Yeah.

Fair enough, Sweat Pea. The pro-freedom side of me is too strong to be overwhelmed without more information at this point.
