yesterday.  I had taken my mother to have her hair done at the beauty shop.  I was talking with the beautician who told me she wanted to get a dog for her 13 year old daughter, but didn't want to pay the price breeders charge.  I mentioned about adopting one and probably only having to pay a small fee to spay or neuter the dog, and the beautician was very interested.

I gave the beautician some URL's that could help her find a pet to adopt, like http://www.petfinder.com and the local S.P.C.A.  It surely felt good to be able to help an adoptable animal find a nice home. :D

the best dog we had growing up came from the shelter.  ::thumbs::

She was a mutt, but she was precious.  :heartbeat:

I LOVE mutts!  Most of the dogs I've owned were mutts.  My latest (adopted from the local shelter) is a full bred Lhasa, although there aren't any papers for him.  I love all dogs. :banana:I'd never pay a breeder, though, when there are so many homeless ones in good health, with good personalities, just waiting to be adopted.  Also, I like to adopt them when they're at least one year old because I don't have the time to train a puppy.
