Borzoi, AKA  Russian Wolfhound.  What a gorgeous animal!!!  I've handled a few of these.  Major couch potatoes and very loveable.

So very true LH. Our daughter & her family have a Westie for over seven years now. And he's like a Son to her & her husband, & a brother to our granddaughter! We have come to love him as our grandson as well! (Our daughter stopped at one & only child)

They buy only specially blended dry dog food from their vet for him, & never give him anything else. We cheat when we dogsit him when they go on vacation & give him table food, & he loves it. Of course we mainly give him his special dog food, but sneak in a few treats. Grandparents spoil the grandkids, ya know!

Anyway, unfortunately, he has a supposidly rare blood condidion, that caused several occasions where he needed emergency vet treatments including blood transfusions, that cost $700 to $800 each time. Just this past June, he was running flat out as fast as he could & he "tore" ligiments & muscles in his left hind leg. He could not walk on the leg, the vet said he needed surgery to repair the damage! That little junt he took, cost them "$3,300" !!! Not only is he another mouth to feed with expensive food, he has racked up thousands of dollars in vet bills! And the worst part, of course none of those bills are covered by insurance, & or are even tax deductable!

I hate to say it but I do not think I would spend more than 500.00 on a dog at the vet. There are so many more dogs that do not have a home that I would have to say "goodbye" and move on.:badday:

This made me chuckle because my Lhasa, Charlie, licks my nose to greet me, although he has to go up two stairs and I have to bend down for him to reach me. ::chuckle::
