So, many of you know that I just got a new family member, about a month and a half ago.  (See "New Furkid" thread for a pic or two)

Since my conception of a responsible pet owner includes surgical sterilization of said pets - and since Michigan law requires all pets adopted from shelters be sterilized - I had him neutered last week.  He would NOT leave the incision site alone, so I took him back in to the doctor who put a couple of sutures in the spot - apparently he had done enough damage with that little sandpaper tongue to require it.

SOooooo...the doctor also included a lampshade collar for him to prevent future sandpaper damage.  Gus has decided that he does NOT like this new development.  I was sitting in the living room the other day, watching him try to get rid of this collar, and almost could not see for laughing.

If you have ever seen Stevie Wonder perform, you will know exactly the reason for my giggles.  Gus was sitting in the middle of the floor, moving his head in exactly the same way as Stevie does when he performs.  I so wished I had a teensy little keyboard to put in front of him, and a videocamera.  I'd have won the ten grand hands-down.

Well, Houdini got out of the collar earlier today. He's back in it, thanks to the quick work of my twelve-year-old, but he's just really determined that he's not going to be restrained like this.

Hard to tell them that it's for their own good.
