Frank I had a rescue greyhound. I managed to get his papers and even showed him a little bit. Got three ribbons. Then I lure coursed him for awhile. he LOVED that!

These are very laid back dogs. Not requiring allot of walking or attention. About an hour a day of exercise is plenty for most.

Just make sure you tell them you do not want one that was trained on live prey/game and will be good around children.

Talk to me.

Librty, congratulations on picking shelter pets! If you cannot find one you like in a shelter, try specific breed rescues. Then you'll know exactly the size the dog is going to be too.

Pictures - I ditto everyone on that!

Oh, yeah, the shelter experience was fun. We had just lost one cat; at seventeen-ish his liver gave out. Very sad. So, a few weeks later, we went to the shelter to find another playmate for the one we had left. There were about a dozen kittens there, all of them pressed up against the bars of the cages and purring away. It sounded like an airplane about to take off.

One of them, though, was doing more than purring. He was reaching through the bars trying to grab at us. Definitely saying "Take me home!!!"

So we did :)
