They had like 20 dogs but all of them did not eat my heart out..........I guess I will wait another couple weeks.............::blush::.........I am looking for a med size dog and just started looking this week. I kinda miss having a dog and grew up with my good buddies Lady,Lucky and Tucker......I feel that now in this time in my life I can accept a dog and take on the responsibility of gaining a new freind. It took me 2 yrs to realise this, and I am now ready to take on another 15-20 yrs of walks and chasing sticks.

Wish me luck with the bonding thing.::potsmoker::

That's awesome. I may be getting a puppy later this year to add to my one dog now. Be sure to show us pics when you finally decide.

I wish you luck librty!  What kind of a dog do you think you could bond with?  Is size important, or just personality?  The neat thing about a dog is, they'll love YOU no matter what!  :D

Today I had a hard time figuring out how big the dog would get. with all those mongrels it was hard to pick one. I am looking for a medium sized dog something like a collie/spaniel mix. But this was my first day looking, and I did not get good personality vibes, maybe I was a bit uptight and  not loose enough to pick today.:dunno: but I have begun the process at any rate.

Nice to see someone who knows the responsibility involved with owning a dog.  And going to the shelter, too; fantastic!  You're saving a life.  Ask Erinna; when she went to get a kitten, she was drawn to this gorgeous grey one, but the one she chose made it very clear he wanted to go with her.  You're right Fox, the right dog will pick the owner in many cases.  Best of luck finding that new furkid, Librty!!  And I'm with Frank; pictures when you've got them, please!!

Cool.  Cannot wait to see who picks you.  I know what they mean about pets picking you.  Three years ago I went out determined to get a pair of guinea pigs.  That is what I wanted that day.  Came home with a chinchilla.

Still would like to rescue a cat one day.  But after Trixie is gone.

I've been reading up on those greyhounds that need rescuing. Seems like a great animal. I'm thinking about it.

I've heard they tend to be high strung.  Might need some property for one of them.  I've never been around any myself though.  I tend to think each animal has their OWN temperament and personality..........just like people.

That's great that you'll be getting one from the shelter. LH.  We adopted Charlie, our dog, from the local shelter.  Or rather, Charlie picked us...lol.

Frank, an article I read said greyhounds don't need much property and do great in a house, so you might want to read up to see if this is the case or not.

Sometimes it goes like that with adopting a new doggers. We went and

looked at one and from the minute I got out of the car, I just new she

wasn't the dog for me. But she opened me up a little, and about a month

later I found our new one. Don't be in a hurry, it will happen when it's

supposed to!

Hello Frank ,  You may want to check around and see if there is a greyhound race track around you . That way you could talk with the handlers and get any inside info on their care etc . Plus they seem to know about dogs that are up for adoption . The town I live in races greyhounds and I see them all over . In fact just a week ago I was standing in line at Wall Mart and the teller and the guy in front of me struck up a greyhound conversation . Well turns out he was a breeder and had 3 dogs at that time that were up for adoption . It sounds like they only keep the fastest of the fast . And adopt out the rest . Good luck in your search Frank .

And good luck to you also LH . I applaud you for starting your search at the pound . I just recently rescued a 4 month old kitten myself . JB
