There is always more to learn, isn't there?  We didn't see many red dobes when I was in the animal medicine business, and NEVER one the size of the sire in that picture!  That is an amazingly beautiful dog.

So it's up to what the breeder wants to keep that will decide if you get the 2nd dog I see.  If he allows the one you want, there is no question that you'd take him home, too?  I like it when littermates can be homed together.  In my experience, they are better behaved, but I know the kind of training yours will get!

Now for showing.....have you ever done the handling yourself?

No I have never shown before... And probably wouldn't. But might fight a handler for a show or two.. Depends on how Shira does in training.. And may never be..
Yes if the breeder takes a different male then I have the wants for,, there will be 2 new pups in the household. for a total of 3 with Tazz.. If not, we will have tazz and Shira, and await a new litter at a later date for a third.

Wilkerson is big huh? LOL,, But he was so gentle and sweet.. Got into Sue's heart in about 30 seconds. He come up after she had quit petting him, and gave her a small headbutt to the leg to let her know, he wasn't done being petted yet.. LMAO.. She started petting him again..

Heading over to a friends for a BBQ,,, Talk to you later.. Supposed to be in the 70's all week here.. Sorry your not here with us...

Ah those are lovely Dobies! Just like the kind I am used to seeing. I was wondering what happened to the good sized, big boned Dobies I remember!

You should show them yourself. It's easy! Well, at least it was easy for me. Anything you enjoy doing is easy I guess.

I used to show my freinds' dogs. And a couple of my own. All sighthounds, Borzio, Ibizan, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Saluki, Afghan and Greyhounds.

You can probably find a local show club that has weekly lessons on show handling and you and the dog can learn together. Some basic obedience mixed in and you will shine in the ring!

Thanks TK,, I may just do that.. Obedience training is a definate. I'll check around. We did find out that we are actually getting 2 pups. The Red female, and a black/tan with a white spot on chest male. To my suprise the breeder told us that it was our choice on getting the pups fixed. (most I have encountered in this breed would like the rights reserved for them atleast 1 time) Will look closely at them as they mature a little, however most likely both will be fixed.
He told us he had one guy show up to look at the pups, he uses his older male to "check out" the new owners, you first must pass his ok, Wilkerson went after this guy right away, and showed teeth with a bad growl. The breeder said nope, you can't buy one of my pups. The man got offended and loud about why he couldn't buy one. Wilkerson and the breeder escorted the man to his car.. :haha:

I really like this breeder. He stands his ground and really wants his pups to have a good family home. He has been approached because of the intelligence of his pups by several police departments, and has refused each time for K-9 dogs. He don't mind showing, but wants none of his to be mean, or get injured doing something that is to them, only the proper thing to do. Protect their owner..

Pendragon will be the male's name. AKC allows a spot no larger then 1 1/2" on the chest. Don't see many with the spot, he is already so special..
They opened their eyes this week, and are doing the military crawl.. Shira is really getting "bossy" with the others, and demands Mom's attention as she wants it.. :lmao:

If you can hold out a full year on the neutering and spaying that would be my choice of what to do no matter what.

Veterinarians all have differeing opinions on this but I personally feel that they shouldn't be 'fixed' before they had a chance to mature.

I think the animals need the growing and developing hormones and everything else that God gave them to properly mature both physically and mentally.

The crap that is given about males 'marking' and all that is bunk.

The only thing is that you are going to have to play referee with him and keep him away from her during her heat cycle during that year.

Even your 'fixed' males that you may have need to be kept away. The 'bunk' about 'fixed' males not having the desire for sex is another gigantic myth.

Both my animals are 'fixed' and they both like to give me quite the show often.

My Daisy is the test on people's character. She NEVER dislikes anyone and thinks the world is here to give her all the attention she thinks she deserves but on occasion, she will growl at a person. If she does that, you just HAVE to KNOW they are evil in one way or another!

Goliath, well, he just thinks I need extra protection. ::bat::

I agree totally with you on the time line for getting the animals fixed. Tazz we were under mandate from the humane society and to not break the contract I signed when I adopted her, I had her fixed early.

All my dogs in the past have been fixed, and yes, I know they still enjoy the act.. :D

We have already discussed how we are going to keep them seperated during the heat cycles, and are preparing for that. Tazz is already fixed so no problem there.. Well except she may not care for the male dobie to mate or try to with her little JRT body.. ::nsmile::

Were excited, but tried to discuss all the things that could happen, and how we are going to deal with them before we made the agreement to bring them into our home.
Thanks for the tips and words.. They always help just incase we missed anything.
Have a great weekend..

Mom and Dad are both something else.  Dad is one of the best looking Texas Reds I've ever seen.  No wonder the pups are so good looking.  Taz is a doll, but looks like she might try to run the house.  Thanks for leading me here I've enjoyed it.

Respects and jealous ::chuckle::

::smoocch:: Thanks for the compliment! I just added a bunch of new content to the main information pages on dogs and hamsters and how to get your letters written to your legislators!

LOL gotta write when the inspiration hits!

Goliath was my stellar model and Matt helped of course!

All the problems with the site's forums are fixed too!
