This is devastating for me. Both of our cats have been on Nutro for a ling time. Nutro is supposed to be a small, private, "natural" speciality company. Now I find out they are packaging Menu Foods manufactured wet foods!

I have a cat that started to exhibit signs of renal failure this week - I fear it may be related to this recall.

TK, I have been all over these lists and I don't see Iams anywhere.  But who knows if their food is affected, possibly made by one of these manufacturers?  Any idea about Iams?

Thanks for this, Imp.  My cat has been on Iams for years, but only the dry.  I see that this is strictly a canned food issue.  It still makes me very leery, though.  Who knows what else they will find that is killing our pets??

Frank, stop using Beneful. It's crap. Dogs dont need vegetables, they need MEAT.

I am feeding Iams to my cats for years. I prefer Blue Seal like I feed my dogs but you can't get the cat food where I live and the stupid local store won't consistently order it for me. So Iams it is.

Blue Seal is a great food and unfortunately it's only shipped in the northeast.

This is horrendous!

I remember when Iams first came out in the UK. There were some really weird reports about it so I refused to buy it (can't remember what they said exactly but it was something about waste products being used and the Iams food wasn't good for pets and something about being tested on animals in a horrible way - sorry I can't be more specific)

I actually did some research on what I should be feeding my cats. I have always used dry food as it is known to be better for them but they get the ocassional pouch of "wet" food as a treat and the ocassional "scrap" from our meat prep.

My vet, my local animal shelter and various recommendations led me to the James Wellbeloved range of cat food. I cannot fault it. The cats will NOT eat anything else now. (fussy little Divas!)

I am so pleased I did this now. My cats are my babies and if I found out that the food I gave them was causing them to have medical problems I would be devastated.

Imp - please keep me updated on your cat's condition. I feel for you sweetheart and hope that everything goes ok. ::rose::
