Well after my daughter asked about a kitten, the wife agreed.

Melissa (daughter) knew that i was/am allergic to cats, so knowing that the kitten might have to go, so we are waiting to see if this kitten is history.

After 4 days no re-actions, but we are going to wait a few more days.

No pics... kitty might be gone so, no aww cute etc....lol

Well I would venture to say you are not violently allergic or your parents told you that you are so they don't have to bother getting you any pets.

I am allergic to my animals and I have 2 dogs, 5 cats and had 10 horses. How do I handle it? Immunotherapy injections.

I go weekly for an allergy shot. Works like a charm. Even if you are violently allergic, they can and do help.

What's a shot or a pill compared to your daughter's happiness?

Possibly it was a certain cat i was allergic to?

Had to go to the hospital, both eyes were swollen shut...

That was many years ago, so hopefully this Kitten stays.

You want me to shoot the cat? or kill it with a pill?

LOL.....JK::nsmile::

Impossible to be allergic to a specific cat. What you are actually allergic to is the cat's dander and the mites that live on it.

Now there are cats that are 'hypoallergenic' like the Hairless variety, but those are only for those who like that sort of look in their felines. Then there are the REX varieties. Devon and Cornish Rex cats are great for those who are allergic.

But most don't go spending that kind of money unless they are true cat fanciers.

The other option along with shots or before needing them is a product called Aller-Pet. This is a liquid that you can spray onto a rag and wipe the animal daily. You can also spray it onto your furniture and there's a powder to sprinkle onto carpets. I know some people who swear by it.

But I go for the shots. I'm in NJ and my environmental allergies here are murder and pills just won't cut it, so while checking the shot option for that they found all sorts of things I am allergic to. The shots are my choice. I love them and swear by them. I would be miserable without them! Pills her just weren't working.

My boyfriend came from Detroit area Michigan and never had an allergy before coming here. I always had them. I found out after some sleuthing about it's not uncommon to gain or lose an allergy depending on where you live.

If I go to Florida, I have no problems, come here or back to my native NYC and I'm miserable. So who knows? You should check it out.
