I ALMOST got onto "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" when they had the 900 pay calls to enter to get on the show.  I made it past the first phone round and after completing the second round a day later the production company took my info in case two others ahead of me couldn't make it (in the second round, I was 14th out of whoever many people were playing, and the top ten plus two alternates were sent to New York for each taping).  Dang, had I made it to the hot seat, I could have almost certainly scorched my way to at least six digits, but oh well :P  I hope another big-money show that actually requires some knowledge comes around... I guess there's Jeopardy; that would be an interesting resume addition ("For three months, my position was Champion on Jeopardy!").

Anyhoo, has anybody actually graced the silver screen in a game show appearance?  How did you do?  Or have you played for/won any significant prize on a online or radio show?  Do tell :)

Deal or No Deal would be interesting to play... I like that the U.S. version puts the player mostly at odds with his/her own fear and/or greed, as opposed to many foreign versions (ours isn't the first version :) ) where the "banker" adds another overt level of mind games.  I guess part of it is that U.S. players sometimes know how to kick themselves in the butt well enough anyway, no "banker" pressure needed (trust me, the "banker" doesn't really exist in the U.S. version... the "offers" are merely percentages of expected value).
