Chris Benoit and family found deadProfessional wrestler Chris Benoit was found dead along with his family this afternoon in his Atlanta home, according to published reports.
The Atlanta-Journal Constitution is reporting authorities confirmed that Benoit, 40, his wife, Nancy, and their 7-year-old son were found dead at the home on Quarters and Redwine roads in Fayetteville.
The Montreal-born Benoit, who moved to Edmonton when he was 12 years old, lived in Sherwood Park as recently as May 2000.
World Wrestling Entertainment issued a release over Benoit's death.
"World Wrestling Entertainment is deeply saddened to report that today Chris Benoit and his family were found dead in their home," the statement reads.
"There are no further details at this time, other than the Benoit family residence is currently being investigated by local authorities.
WWE spokeswoman Cheryl Kong in Toronto said Monday night’s “Raw” TV program would serve as a tribute to Benoit and his family.
Benoit was a former world heavyweight champion, Intercontinental champion and held several tag-team titles over his career.
Benoit was scheduled to wrestle at the Vengeance pay-per-view Sunday night in Houston, but was replaced at the last minute because of what announcer Jim Ross called “personal reasons.”

Apparently Benoit shot and murdered his wife and son over the weekend then turned the gun on himself on Monday.

To say I'm shocked is a massive understatement.

How awful!  :verysad:  I cannot understand such crimes.  If he chose to hurt himself, that was his right, I suppose, but to take the life of his wife and son...?  Incomprehensible.

Report: Wrestler strangled wife, smothered son
A law enforcement official close to the investigation tells The Associated Press that pro wrestler Chris Benoit strangled his wife and smothered his son before hanging himself in the weight room of the family's suburban Atlanta home. Authorities also said they are investigating whether steroids may have been a factor in the deaths.

It's sad... I honestly didn't think he could do something like that.. But they are saying he possibly went mental because of "roid rage"

Really ?

Like graphic details ?

Gross !

I was a big fan of Chris Benoit he was a truly excellent pro wrestler, I saw him perform live in England twice in WWE house shows in Newcastle in the last few years. I am genuinely gutted and shocked about whats happened.

There is a customer that comes into my shop, a few years ago he was a skinny kinda guy, nice as pie without so much as a splinter on his shoulder. Well he started to work out and within a few months he was showing signs of his hard work, you couldn't help but notice that he was looking much more healthier, this went on for another bunch of months.

A  year later he was really looking good, but he was getting a little meaner. He would get agitated and start stressing when he had to wait for a fitting or something wasn't done on time or if I told him he would have to wait another day before his parts were done.

One day he came in, it was around 6-6:30 am and he leaped up the stairs and came in the shop and started cursing, waving his arms and generally making an ass out of himself. I tried to calm him down but his fitting was wrong and so off we went to make another one. He was literally frothing at the mouth!

I turned my back to him and he grabbed me on the right shoulder. Now back then I used to take martial arts doing situation techniques and that was the exact same thing we had been practicing that week, Well he ended up on his knees with his hand in a technique called "forward power where I had pressure on his radial nerve along his wrist, I walked him out the stairs and told him "Do Not come back"

A few weeks later his boss came in and and asked me what I did to him because he was very quiet and not quite himself. I explained that the man became un-ruly and I tossed him out of the shop. He says well whatever you did worked. Another week goes by and "Kenny" walks in shakes my hand and says "that day I stopped shooting my juice"

Steroids can change a person and make them do very stupid things.  Yesterday "Kenny" was laughing at a joke that I told from this forum, and I am glad he is around to tell them. He is happy and healthier in mind and body and great to be around today.

Then something like this showed up.:verysad: .........I am sorry, his family did not deserve this.

yes, very graphic. i don't follow wrestling, never heard of him. but couldn't miss the DA's big mouth. she was tied hands and feet. wrapped in a towel. blood under her head. he kept her there friday night, then killed the little boy saturday morning. there were allegations of domestic abuse, she filed for a restraining order at one point, then dropped it. i do believe steroids made him crazy.

The steroids are not a proven thing, and are secondary. The guy was a real pro, and respect was everything to him. His wife managed other wrestlers, and must have asked for a divorce, the new house he worked so hard for, and probably admitted to having an affair. That snapped his view of being totally disrespected, and he was. This is conjecture from the personality described by his peers and friends. It had to take an awful lot for him to break like that, steroids or not. She must have said the cruelest cut of all, a very stupid thing to do with a guy that strong, with a life of building and maintaining respect for himself, and his friends and family.
