Here's an article from a developer that makes a lot of sense to me:

Winning the Console Wars

Yeah, I really hate to admit it, but Sony dropped the ball. Dropped the ball? Hell, they fumbled on their own one yard line!

I have been a real sony fanboy since the PS1, but I do remember the Sega vs. SNES wars. I actually liked the Sega games much better. They had a better look, feel, and more titles that interested me.

In the end, it always comes down to games and game library availability. After all, who cares about the unit? It's the games that really matter!

So when the PS1 came along, I knew it was time to say goodbye to my favorite Sega games. (although, thanks to emulation, I have them again!)

It takes a lot to alienate me as a dedicated gamer, but now that Sony has stagnated for an entire year (sheer death in the videogame world and incidentally the same thing that killed Nintendo when the Playstation came out) I'm ready to bail on them the same way I did Sega.

I'm getting an XBox360 for a couple of reasons:

1. I can't now, nor will I be able to in the near future, afford Sony's price.

2. Some of the games I really want are already out on XBox - especially "Oblivion" which is hands down the best RPG ever written.

3. Even my favorite series, a perenial Sony franchise, "Ace Combat" is debuting on XBox. What does that tell you? If even Namco, Sony's favorite in-house developer, is bailing on them, the future aint great. (There's still Square-Enix, the Final Fantasy guys, but they are way behind the power curve in bringing out FFXIII.)

4. I'm sick and tired of waiting!!!

So do you already own one of these systems? What do you think about the article?
