Is anyone else here a NASCAR fan?  I actually used to hate the sport, until my wife got me to watch it a few times.  Now I'm a huge fan of it!

There's a big race tonight in Bristol, TN.  If you've never checked out NASCAR before, this would be a great race to watch.  Lots of action at this track, and usually a whole bunch of spectacular wrecks.  The race will be broadcast on TNT @ 7:30PM EDT.

I razz a dude I work with about NASCAR somehow being a "Sport".

We have a local bar that we could grab 30 drunken billies out of at any given moment, give them a car, and tell them to turn left.....and they could do it.

My arguement is that if that is a sport, then mowing my lawn on a JD should be one too.

I honestly do not "get" the fascination, obsession by some, with it.

I drive by houses that have NASCAR flags up and can't believe someone would put one of those rags up over our own colors.

To loud, plain and simple. I like the computer game though. Grew up making go karts and can understand the thrill of driving and enjoy the time compression part. Since Nascar went big time commercial it all reminds me of pro wrestling.  Guess people have to throw cash a sometime to get off. To bad it isn't a garden and a retirement account. Boring:shock:

i'm not too far from daytona. race weeks are a nightmare of traffic and many drunks camped in the infield. my son was given a ticket to one race, he would never have gone otherwise...it was the day #3 was killed.

They may be able to turn left, but it wouldn't be at anywhere near the speed...

It takes alot of skill to drive that fast while keeping complete control of the race car around 42 other drivers...

You guys can bit*h all you want about it not being a sport, but to say anyone can do it couldn't be more ignorant.

The going round and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around is a bit tedious.

BUT, the fact that someone thought of putting a thick concrete wall all the way around the track does at least ensure some crash related mayhem for the gorehounds out there. ::rockon::
