A question for the McCann parents.

How does collecting a million quid in donations to your non-charitable appeal fund help to find someone when you are not actually doing any of the searching or investigation and the whole investigation is, in fact, being funded by the taxpayers of Portugal, the UK, Belgium, Morocco etc etc ?

:dunno::dontgetit:::scratch::

Great question Ninja you see they have living expenses since they aren't practicing medicine any longer. They need to pay for the Villa they are in and clothes, food, dinners like the one they left their children alone for. You know important stuff that has nothing to do with finding Madeline dead or alive..::wait::

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up worn out screaming what a ride..

what planet are they living on??

The parents of Madeleine McCann have insisted their daughter is alive and may be in Spain.

Kate and Gerry McCann gave interviews to Spain's three top-selling newspapers in which they insisted there was a 'very real possibility' their daughter had not been killed

This appears to go against recent Portuguese police statements acknowledging for the first time that Madeleine could be dead.

The couple refused to say whether police have told them the young girl could be in Spain, but their interviews will fuel speculation that detectives have a new lead.

Kate and Gerry McCann outside the villa where Madeleine went missing: they they she's alive and could have been taken to Spain

Pledging to ensure his daughter would not "become a statistic", Mr McCann told El Mundo: "There is a very real possibility that Madeleine is alive and we want the police to look for her."

He went on: "The possibility that Madeleine is alive and in Spain is real. It is something we did not consider at the beginning, but now we are seriously weighing up.

"The border between the two countries is very big. If someone had a car, it is clear they could cross into Spain. There is no border guard and no one closed the border the night Madeleine disappeared."

Asked if the couple had received concrete information from Spanish police that Madeleine was alive and in Spain, Mr McCann said: "They are involved in the investigation, but I cannot tell you what they are working on, they will have to tell you officially."
Preliminary DNA tests on the blood traces found in the flat have revealed it probably came from a man from north-eastern Europe, The Times reported last week.
The McCanns refused to discuss the report today, but Mrs McCann told El Pais: "That the samples could correspond to another person is not that surprising."
Mr McCann also strongly defended the friends the couple were dining with on the night Madeleine went missing.
Dr Russell O'Brien, 36, was forced to issue a statement yesterday condemning "completely untrue and extremely hurtful" smears about him published in the Portuguese press.
Mr McCann told El Mundo: "We know the police have to investigate all possibilities. But what remains clear is that we have not the slightest doubt in and fully trust our friends."
It was reported today that police have advised the McCanns to stay in Portugal in case there is a major development.
A spokeswoman for the family said she was aware of the reports, but stressed that the couple are not suspects and can return to Britain whenever they choose.
Mr McCann plans to travel to Scotland on Friday to speak at the Edinburgh Festival the following day.
The spokeswoman also played down reports that police had admitted for the first time that they could "archive" the case if they fail to discover what happened to Madeleine.
She said: "Our understanding is that these cases are never closed - they might not be solved, but they are never closed."

Like you have said all along LC look to the water..

A report of its findings concluded that Madeleine could have died before 7p.m. on the night that she went missing. Madeleine’s parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, have insisted that she was alive at 9 p.m. The company also claimed that the child was killed in her apartment before being taken to a beach in a white van where her body was dumped.

:verymad::beat:::devilangry::

This is really a pet peeve of mine!  Why would anyone in their right minds take valuable resources and divert them to hiring psychics, for Chrissake?!  What's next, witch doctors?!

It pisses me off that these people are given so much attention.  CourtTV even has two "psychic detective" shows now!  :wtf:

McCann walks out of TV interview

Press Association
Wednesday August 29, 2007 7:48 AM

The father of Madeleine McCann has walked out of a TV interview after being asked about blood traces found in his daughter's bedroom.

Gerry McCann grew frustrated with repeated questioning about the police investigation into the young girl's disappearance 117 days ago.

He halted the interview with Spanish television channel Telecinco, pointing out that Portuguese law meant he could not comment on details of the inquiry.

Madeleine, from Rothley, Leicestershire, was snatched from her family's holiday flat in the Algarve village of Praia da Luz on May 3 while her parents dined at a tapas restaurant nearby.

Clips on Telecinco's website show Mr McCann pulling a microphone off his shirt and walking out of the room - although he returns a few minutes later.

His wife Kate is left to explain to interviewer Jordi Gonzalez that her husband finds being unable to respond to false allegations "very frustrating".

The tension started to build after Mr Gonzalez asked the couple: "You were the last people to see Madeleine alive, is that correct?"

Mr McCann replied: "That's part of the investigation and we are not going to divulge any information about the investigation that might help the perpetrator of this crime to cover his tracks."

The presenter then quizzed them about the minute blood flecks found by British sniffer dogs in the McCanns' holiday apartment, which are currently undergoing DNA tests in Britain.

At this point Mr McCann started to take his microphone off, saying: "Do you know what? This is all investigation. You need to talk to the police." He then stood up and walked off camera, then returned to pick up a bottle of water, adding as he left the room: "All your questions are about the investigation and we cannot comment on the investigation."

So if he couldn't talk about the case or the investigation what the f**k was the point of giving the interview ?, what were they supposed to talk about ?, the weather ?, swap recommendations for tapas bars ?,  I personally think the pressure is beginning to get to both parents and wouldn't be suprised if a major breakthrough could be just around the corner.

Also when asked about their marriage Gerry McCanns mother remarked "They are still very, very happy". WHAT ? OH RLY ? even though 33% of their children are missing presumed dead ?

WTF ?

I agree Ninja if they had anything to do with her missing the pressure will make them crack, and soon I would hope.

McCanns sue paper to 'defend reputations'
By Caroline Gammell in Praia da Luz

Last Updated: 3:56pm BST 31/08/2007

Kate and Gerry McCann are so angry about claims they drugged and killed their daughter they are prepared to step into the witness box to fight clear their names, it emerged yesterday.

The couple are suing Portuguese newspaper Tal & Qual for alleged defamation after it published a front page story claiming detectives believe the couple was responsible for Madeleine's death.

McCanns: Determined to challenge the 'ludicrous' reports
They say the article implied that the Policia Judiciaria (PJ) in the Algarve think the four-year-old died from an accidental overdose of drugs, possibly sedatives.

The couple, from Rothley in Leicestershire, have grown increasingly angry about the speculation surrounding their daughter's disappearance.

They have told friends they will fight the criminal case all the way to the courts. If successful, they can then apply for indemnity in the civil court.

If the McCanns do give evidence at trial, it will be the first time they have publicly discussed the case as they are not allowed to talk about the investigation.
