i was just reading of a female in orlando who left a 3-month-old alone in her car today. the baby is going to survive fortunately. but every summer it's the same tragic story...people leave little children in cars that can reach 120 degrees F in minutes. i don't comprehend the ignorance or cruel neglect considering the number of deaths every summer. it's the same with swimming pools...many people down here have them, yet fail to use reasonable care and caution. so there are always toddler pool deaths too. all it takes for either tragedy to be avoided is common sense. WHERE IS COMMON SENSE??

It's very unfortunate, and along similar lines, many people who lack common sense also leave their pets in cars with the windows closed in the hot summer weather.

Precisely why I carry a center punch with me everywhere. I'm getting those babies (skin OR fur!) OUT and make no mistake, and if somebody wants to come after me for breaking their window, I'd be more than happy to discuss my actions in front of a judge!

Some people are just plain stupid/thoughtless to leave their youngsters skin or fur out in a car, Hot or Cold weather! In addition to the temp danger, it would also seem to be that "kidnapping" (or pet napping) should be foremost on their minds, apparently not. There are sick people in the world that abduct kids from their bedrooms, how much more easy could they make it for them then to leave the little ones out in an unattended car!? Couple finishes restaurant meal while child tied in hot car POSTED: 8:02 a.m. EDT, June 13, 2007 Story Highlights• 6-year-old boy found tied in hot car outside Cracker Barrel in Ringold, Georgia • Couple charged with cruelty to children and concealing a weapon • The boy has been placed in protective custody CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee (AP) -- Police in northwest Georgia have rescued a boy from a hot car where his mother's companion is accused of tying him up. Ringgold, Georgia, police say a Cracker Barrel restaurant employee called police after seeing Raymond Minchew take the 6-year-old out of the restaurant and return without him -- then finished eating his meal. Ringgold is about 13 miles southeast of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Police found the bound boy sitting in the car, crying. Sergeant John Gass says the child was soaked with sweat and had a rope tied to one of his ankles. Gass says the temperature was in the 80s Saturday in Ringgold. The 61-year-old Minchew and the boy's mother -- 35-year-old Rachel Gilchrist -- were arrested and charged with cruelty to children and concealing a weapon. There was a handgun in the car. Investigators believe the boy was in the hot car for about a half hour. Police Sergeant John Gass says the couple contended the boy had misbehaved, although witnesses at the restaurant disagreed. The boy has been placed in protective custody.
