One thing is for sure..............do NOT include baseball in his rehabilitation he may become pro and buy steroids on the side. Then the fuse would be lit. I do not agree that death is the last resort but certainly, an ultimate outcome. If this boys path is not made stoney, and hard to walk on. so should his parents be held accountable, not the situation to some degree. I just feel worse for the loss of life rather than the lives of the humans still breathing.

I agree with you LC this kid is a bad seed.
 Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up worn out screaming what a ride.. |

i just knew this mother was a few fries short of a happy meal: Telling Him to Commit Suicide Friday, March 14, 2008  FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — The mother of a 12-year-old boy charged with killing a Broward County toddler was ordered to stay away from her son Thursday. Broward County Circuit Judge Charlie Kaplan issued the order after employees at the juvenile detention center overheard Guerla Joseph encourage the boy to kill himself. The mother was also heard telling the boy that his situation was comparable to the persecution of Jesus. Joseph denied the allegations. "I never, never tell him that. That's a trick. They make it up," she told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel in a phone interview. "I'm not giving up, I'm going to keep praying for my son. I never said that to him." She also said officials did not notify her of Thursday's court hearing The boy is charged as a juvenile with second-degree murder in the death of his 17-month-old cousin in January. Kaplan ordered Joseph to undergo a psychological exam before she has any contact with her son.   LILLY ECHEVERRIA / MIAMI HERALD STAFF Guerla Joseph says she never encouraged her son to kill himself. She insists she was misunderstood because of her Haitian background. Guerla Joseph is barred from seeing her son until she undergoes a psychiatric evaluation.

i have a real problem with this being reported as an attack by one child upon another. to me, the word child implies a kind of innocense that would not even conceive of the possibility of beating a toddler either with a bat or with his hands. this kid ceased being a child the moment he resorted to violence to solve the problem. i have a 5 year old daughter and we are basically raising my grandson who is 10 months old now (because his parents are still children themselves) and my 5 year old behaves better around the grandson than this kid at age 12 did. if the baby has a problem or is crying and one of us - my wife or me - has not come to see what the problem is, my daughter will come find us because she knows that the baby needs attention. she also loves to play with the baby and undeerstands that the baby does not know what it is doing and does not do things (like pulling her hair) with an intent to hurt. as for the mother in this case - she should be tried for the death as well for leaving a 12 year old kid to babysit a toddler. and look at the great example she is setting for the poor kids!
