this may not be illegal, but i think it's no different than people who go to police equipment websites and order badges and clothing and other gear. he is endangering his life by driving that, and endangering his child in the car with him. the article fails to mention that possibility. the bastards actually shoot at cruisers!

New Mexico cops aren't happy about it, but they say there's nothing they can do to stop a man who has painted his car to look like a police cruiser.

Kinda tough to slap an "impersonating a cop" charge on a car, eh?  :lmao:  Not real bright, IMO.  100 bucks says if the guy uttered the words "beaner" or "spic" they'd nail him with a hate crime charge, though.

I may be wrong but I though there was a law about this. I think there is one in California. To many cases of scumbag impregnating Cops and their Cars pulling women over and killing them.

I can't see how this is not impersonating.

How big is the difference between wearing the uniform and driving the car?
One will get you a definite "you're trying to impersonate a cop" and the other won't?

I can't imagine that most judges wouldn't go along with the interpretation of the intent..'

But I guess you have to try to fool someone into thinking you're a cop before it's actual impersonation..

eg-- you can wear the uniform, but you had better FOR SURE tell anyone who asks that you're not a real cop  --- even just leaving them with the impression by not correcting them would get some judges to rule against you..

i agree Sirlamre, i won't even wear my police jacket or baseball cap or 'SHERIFF' tee-shirt unless i am armed! the public does not know the difference, and anything can and does happen!

the guy driving that car is a fool. and nothing good will come of it!
