Having spend a short time training with the NYC Dept of Corrections and visiting some of the facilities on Rikers Island I can understand how the murder could occur. You're locked in a dorm with 50 or more inmates by yourself and you could be killed in seconds if someone really had it out for you. By the time the alert went out and a response team arrived you'd be dead.

But how the heck does she get raped (that doesn't happen in seconds) unnoticed by another officer. While you're in the dorm another officer is in the control room and his main priority is (should be) watching your back.

i will PMH, i have the same questions.

i had to do corrections in fla. for 3 years, and there was always a tower operator who was supposed to be watching you at all times.
