Dunno what made it pop into mind, but something I read in the paper reminded me of the time I went nuts.

We were a young family and the Kennedy years had just ended and busing was seen as the magic formula for racial harmony.  ::rotfl::

So, we progressive white folks thought, "let's give it a chance" and allowed our kids to be bused to swillville.

Our kid was a STUDENT and .....har har har...played an INSTRUMENT (other than a zip gun) and the "school" had a concert one night.    I was to pick him up at the parking lot at xx:xx PM.

I arrived and he wasn't there.   Finally I drove around and couldn't find him anywhere and the crowd was getting thin.    So I went in the office and was told he was in the NURSE'S office.   Hoo BOY!    I got him to the ER where he was diagnosed with a fractured skull and some lacerations.

Over his WATCH.    (a cheapie)

I left the wife at the hospital, went home, gathered armament and took my Ford F-250 back to the snakepit neighborhood and went LOOKIN!

The low riders congregated in various vacant lots and drive ins.   (my kid knew WHO the bastards were)

I took that truck OVER curbs and INTO the midst of punkland and I think they were a bit leery of the crazy white guy.   They even asked WHAT I WANTED.   So I told em.

They didn't know where Cholo the Magnifico was, so I went looking.

And was soon "lit up" by a passing cruiser who may have NOTICED that I wasn't adhering STRICTLY to the vehicle code.

And ya know what?  I DIDN'T CARE!

Cop looked in and saw the Rem 870, the .45 auto, the .357, and the M1 carbine with banana clip (all LOADED) and asked what I was doing.  (no UP AGAINST THE CAR)

So I told him I was looking to kill the bastard who broke my kid's head.

So the cop said............

"Mr. Spongepants, are you SURE this is what you want to do?"

That's all.

I guess my brain finally engaged and I said "I guess not."

So he said,  "Why don't you go home?"

Which I did after unloading (in his presence) my arsenal of righteousness.


NOW!

Can't you see the same thing TODAY?

LC, would I be out yet?

::chuckle::


(The punk was killed in a gang incident about a year later and we had a family party)

nope...the federales would lock you up and throw away the key on weapons charges. ::sgrin::

if i came across someone armed heavily enough to invade a small country, i probably would have shot you first , then asked questions. ::gunner::

I...DID.... get throwed out of an ENTIRE TOWN.... FOR LIFE!

In fact our whole car club did.   ONE cop (in a 54 Chevy cop car) pulled over 15 cars on a poker run.

Musta been a riot.   30 kids (2 to a car....one driver, one spotter) clustered around this cop who said we were NEVER to come back.

NEVER!

Maybe I should check with the town again to see if the ban has been lifted.
