:banana:i am so thrilled! there's NOTHING as awesome as a night launch! it won't be completely dark, but it will still be great because the fire in the sky is visable for many miles.

Isn't it odd how most folks seem to be so ho hum about the shuttles
now? Like seen one - seen them all? I just get so excited when one
goes up and I wish I could see one in person - feel the vibrations - hear
the incredible sounds. Must be something. Then I am a nervous wreck
waiting for the darn thing to land!

Safe journey Atlantis!

i agree with you...i've been present for many launches, and it's always mind-blowing. the noise, the flames and smoke, the earth DOES move, the agonizing first moments after liftoff...i will never become blase about them. Godspeed Atlantis!

i usually am present at the cape, had to settle for TV tonight. my uncle lived in cocoa beach, he was a NASA engineer, so i always had passes. :)   i inherited his collection of mission patches, going back to Apollo. (not the the tourist store patches), they have certain threads that identify them as real. anyone that comes to florida on vacation should not miss visiting the cape, it's fantastic! many rocket displays, history, and you can even go out to the launch pad. NASA also has a great website to visit.
