Yes, like everyone else on the planet, I enjoy occasionally looking at YouTube videos.  I admit that much.

But how in the hell did YouTube become such a "killer app" that now it needs to be on the iPhone?!?!

:sorry::dontgetit:::scratch:::dunno:

I don't want to pick on just the iPhone, though.  Apparently there's a "YouTube Mobile" now, so there's apparently this demand from more than Apple...

Can somone explain to me what makes YouTube such an essential app that you'd want it on your phone?

I wasn't aware it was on phones now.  My phone is used for ignoring incoming calls, making the occasional outgoing call, and sending the rare text message.  Anything else my phone can do, I don't know about or care about.  :dunno:

I use my phone to check my Gmail account sometimes (Google put out a pretty good Gmail app, even for a cheap phone like mine), but for any serious browsing, I'd rather use something a little bigger.

If you've got an unlimited data plan, wouldn't you want to spend the data you invested the money in on something more significant than watching a dog on a skateboard?

Some  of what you said here is Greek to me, but my "investment" was minimal.  Well, even less than minimal.  When I bought my new phone, it cost me 25 bucks out the door and came with a $50 mail-in rebate.  I think I did ok on that one!  ::thumbs::  Made 25 dollars to trade in my old, dead phone!

Same basic thing as itunes ... many people treat checking out videos of all sorts like songs.

Except that most of what's on YouTube is amateurish, low-bandwidth crap.  iTunes is commercial-quality material.  If iTunes was just a bunch of people at bars singing karaoke, I wouldn't understand that, either.  :haha:

It's because it is stuff you can't get anywhere else and such super variety ... like the net itself .. and some stuff is good quality ...
