OK, this passes crackpot and approaches crazy but I posted it on another site so will put it here too. I suspect that the pyramids are far more important than most people conceive. We look for accounts of the pyramids in history and usually come up empty but actually it's entirely possible that everything revolved around the pyramids. These accounts are lost because we don't see the connections and because they aren't obvious. The written accounts that would explain them are lost or can't be translated. Many of these may be comingled with ancient oral traditions which have been distorted in a long line of generational misunderstandings and misquotations. What we do know about this era is largely determined by a prayer book, a hymmnal, and various religious writings as seen through a prism of 19th century science. Even these tend to be dismissed at the first hint of a contradiction or inexplicable fact. Data from all time periods seems to be excluded if it doesn't fit orthodoxy. While there's no doubt my suppositions don't have solid proof or even good corroborating evidence they do tie together almost all the known facts in a very believable way once you can take a little leap to believing they had a source of water pressure at Giza which they recorded each year in column inches on the Palermo Stone. Really it makes sense that the vulcanoes upriver in Sudan could cause high levels of carbon dioxide in the local aquifer at Giza and much of the area to the south and west. This carbon dioxide would cause cold water geysers as it escaped from the water carrying large amounts of water to possibly great heights. Man appeared on the scene some 40,000 years ago. He came from a creature which looked just like us but lacked the power of speech; he lacked the supersized speech center which allowed the developement of language and the control over the operation of the brain exercised by language and words. With the speech center and language we could suddenly communicate even the most complex ideas. We could build on the knowledge of our fathers which provided us with more hours to contemplate human questions. No longer did we spend all our time hunting or taking care of mundane problem of caring for ourselves and others but we contemplated such questions like "where did we come from?". Very early on some people would devote themselves to the preservation of specific lines of knowledge. These oral traditions would usually be very complex and involve most human knowledge. As time progressed they had to be split up into smaller bits because a single individual wasn't capable of learning everything and remembering it. These may have been family lines that lasted for centuries before being broken by early death or lack of a student. Perhaps these lines even had names like "Methusela" or "Noah". It is interesting that the earliest known date in human history coincides so closely with the computed age of the earth as calculated from the bible. Man would have spread very quickly over the planet if the mutation of speech bred very true. Those who lacked speech would not compete successfully with the talkers in most places. They would interbreed and die off. The world was a much different place in the early years. Today, one would be surprised to stumble on a riverbed strewn with gold because it's all been gathered up over the millinea, but 40,000 years ago such sights were not so rare. There would also be all kinds of minerals and metals around. One of the most valuable things to mankind, and all mammals, right from the very beginning would be a ready source of fresh clean water. Humans would tend to seek this almost to the exclusion of most other resources. In areas that are well hydrated there is extensive and prolific plant and animal life. Such areas would be ideal for early humans since they were omnivores. If the whole area from the Fayuum north to Giza and west to the lower lying areas were susceptible to having water come up from the ground it would be a veritable Eden and at the east side would be Giza and possibly The Garden. Water sprayed from the ground and fed the four major rivers through evaporation in the minds of the ancients. The Gihon might have originated in "The Marsh of Reeds" on the west side of Eden and fed by the winding watercourses coming down from Giza. Even Adam may have been a victim of the carbon dioxide suffocation causing the tachycardia and chestpains he experienced when he awoke to find Eve had been ripped from his ribs. His sons were farmers and herders which would imply he came around long after the creation of the world but his path back to Giza was blocked by two spinxes and a "flaming" or "turning" sword. A natural opening for a geyser could easily cause the water to appear to twist as the pressure increased or decreased. Looking closely at this water it would effervesce or appear to flame or burn. Even the religion of the ancients could have arisen largely on this plateau. The Gods multiplied as time went on and more of the immortal men shuffled off the mortal coil to join the mortal Gods. Osiris wasn't the builder of the pyramid but came much earlier and came to be associated with the geyser itself. Set inadvertantly murdered Osiris and when he arose again it was from the eye of his son Horus. This eye was seven cubits with a pupil of three cubits which is just about the size of the natural opening under the pyramid. Just in front of the pyramid is a natural cavern some 70' long and parallel to the north side. This might have been the original site of Osiris. When you get right down to it, what are the pyramids except a bunch of giant "X's" to "mark the spot".

Utterance 690 seems to describe the eruption of a cold water geyser. 2109. The sky trembles, the earth quakes before the god, before N. 2110a. N. [is not enveloped] by the earth; 2110b. ’I?.t-wt.t, thou art not enveloped by the earth. 2110c. Thy fame is by day; thy fear is by night, as a god, lord of f ear. 2110d. Thou commandest the gods like the mighty one, chief of the mighty. 2111. [O] Osiris, the overflow comes, the inundation hastens, Geb groans. 2112a. I have pitied thee with pity; I have smitten him who acted with evil (intent) against thee; 2112b. that thou mayest live, that thou mayest raise thyself up because of thy strength. 2113. O N., [the inundation comes 1, [the overflow hastens], Geb [groans]. 2114a. Exult in the divine efflux which is in thee; let thy heart live; 214b. thy divine limbs are in good condition; loosen thy bindings. 2115a. Horus comes to thee, N.; he does for thee that which he did for his father Osiris, "’I?.t-wt.t" might be the "yeast gas" coming out of solution. "’I?.t-wt.t", thy fame is by day thy fear is by night. By day this would be a major topic of interest by most educated people. At night the wind often slows when solar heating stops. This would allow possibly deadly concentrations of "yeast gas" to accumulate especially in lower lying areas. It appears as well in utt 436: 788b. the efflux goes forth from the god, the secretion which comes out of Osiris, 788c. so that thy hands may be washed, so that thine ears may be open. 789a. This power is spiritualized by means of its soul. 789b. Wash thyself for thy ka washes itself. Let thy ka be seated, 789c. that it may eat bread with thee, without ceasing eternally. 790a. Thy going is as a successor of Osiris; 790b. thy face is before thee; thine homage is before thee. 791a. It is agreeable to thy nose on account of the smell of ’I?.t-wt.t; 791b. for thy feet when they hit thy feast (carry thee to thy feast); 791c. for thy teeth, for thy finger-nails when thy bread is broken. Again this is mentioned with the efflux from Osiris. From utt 221; 197e. make thou that his ‘b?-sceptre be at the head of the living; make thou that his ??m-sceptre be at the head of the spirits; 197f. make thou that his blade be firm against his enemies. 198a. O ’Inw-Crown, thou has come forth from him as he came forth from thee. 198b. The great ’I?.t has given birth to thee, the ’I?.t-wt.t has adorned thee; 198c. the ’I?.t-wt.t has given birth to thee, the great ’I?.t has adorned thee, 198d. for as for thee, thou art like Horus, who fought in protection of his eye. "gas" has given birth to thee, the great "yeast gas" has adorned thee. The great "yeast gas" has given birth to the, the great "gas" has adorned thee. from 664; 1916-1 (N. 719 + 29). O N., great is sleep; it is great to sleep. 1916-2 (N. 709 + 4). This great one sleeps, he sleeps; wake up, raise thyself up. 1916-3 (Nt. 738). Great is thine odour, pleasant to the nose, the odour of ’I?.t-wt.t. And finally from 576; 1502b. Osiris awakes in peace; he who is in Ndi.t awakes in peace. 1503a. His head is lifted up by R?‘; his odour is [as] that of the ’I?.t-wt.t-serpent. 1503b. The head of N. also is lifted up by R?‘; the odour of N. is as that of ’I?.t-wt.t-serpent. This may be a type of snake that smells something like rising bread or possibly it's just a recognition of its dangerous properties.

I've got another tidbit which I'll post here but maybe not anywhere else, at least for the present. Part of the reason is that I'm having trouble justifying the idea that a cold water geyser would lay down such vast quantities of stone. It also seems to imply the pyramid is upside down. The Great Pyramid is made up of more than 200 layers of stone of varying thicknesses. The bottom layer is the thickest and the 35th layer (location of entrance and height of "queen's chamber") is the second thickest. Most of the layers are of very similar thickness but tend to get a little smaller toward the top. The thickest layers lose a lot of thickness near the top. If you plot these out it makes a very familiar pattern. I couldn't put my finger on it initially but this pattern is the sunspot cycle as you would see in tree rings and so many other natural phenomena. Every eleven years the number of sunspots peak and there is a lot of influence on the Earth. It tends to affect weather, among other things, and it is this which tends to cause the most dramatic effects in nature. There's a second sunspot cycle which is of greater amplitude which happens every eight time or 88 years. The thickness of the layers closely resembles this cycle except the 35th layer is 4 layers out of position! There is a very heavy correlation between the sunspot cycle and the rain falling in East Africa which are the headwaters of the Nile. In modern times there is a peak rainfall one year before peak sunspot activity.

CO2 in water is carbonic acid which dissolves limestone readily. As this mineral rich water loses its CO2 the limestone will precipitate out and could leave annual layers of stone. Here's a little more "efflux" from the Coffin Texts; "'This is our brother, Come, let us lift up his head, Come, let us [rejoin] his bones, Come, let us reassemble his limbs, Come, let us put an end to all his woe, that, as far as we can help, he will weary no more. May the moisture begin to mount for this spirit! May the canals be filled through you! May the names of the rivers be created through you!" The names of the rivers indeed; like the Gihon and the Tigris perhaps.

There is a very young mountain chain SSW of Giza which rose in the Nile headwares and caused a lake to form. This lake (Lake Kivu) is highly carbonated and is one of three such lakes in the world, all in Africa. http://216.109.125.130/search/cache?ei=UTF-8&p=lake+kivu&fr=ieas&u=http://www.co2.ulg.ac.be/kivu.htm&w=lake+kivu&d=WBujMedmPoEN&icp=1&.intl=us This may be the smoking gun when you consider that the underground basins are known to exist not far to the north of this area. All that's really needed may be the larger rainfall that predominated before 3000 BC. Topo map of Africa: http://photojournal.jpl.nasa.gov/jpegMod/PIA04965_modest.jpg
