Hi, Everyone.
I just came across this article on pcmag.com. Amazon has a new store that sells songs without Digital Rights Management built-in, which means you can play the songs on any MP3 player, copy the songs to multiple players if you want, or do anything else you like with them (uh, except for trading them online, of course...you could do that, but you shouldn't... ).
I tried it on Wednesday. I downloaded "Sweet Child Of Mine" on to my Linux box. Downloaded fine, played fine, and I was only out 89 cents for my trouble.
I really hope this takes off. It would be nice not to have to deal with the typical restrictions of buying music online. I do still buy CDs to rip them if I want really high quality, but if this takes off, instant gratification will look even more appealing.
