NOT to turn this into a religious debate, but I can't help but wonder if this is something that's been here since the beginning, only to be discovered now?  Or is it something that's been evolving in evolution here on earth?  That's a beautiful picture Amy!    It's incredible how vivid the colors are...................

I agree.  I remember reading somewhere that we have only explored a very small percentage of our Oceans.  I imagine there are life forms here on earth that we will never see.  The vast intricate beauty of this earth is awe-inspiring to me.  :smitten:

that's a good question, but one that might never be answered.  I suppose it depends on the conditions.  If the conditions of their habitat have remained consistent, they would have no reason to evolve, but if conditions have changed drastically, they would have to evolve to adapt to their environment in order to survive.  But regardless, it's all a part of this beautiful tapestry of life on earth.  :heartbeat:

I happen to think the first option fox. Like Amy said, there are probably many species out there yet to be seen or documented.

I think the real question is what did it evolve from?  It's too advanced a lifeform to have popped up on its own.  (I might be able to buy that if it was a new bacteria or virus, for example.)

As far as what it's evolved from, I think it's probably too soon to tell.  What needs to happen is the creature's DNA needs to be looked at, as well as its structure.  That'll give an idea of where it fits in the scheme of things.

FGP:  IF....it evolved I agree!  It would be very interesting to see what the DNA came up with!  ::thumbs::    That'll give an idea of where it fits in the scheme of things.

Fascinating I want one..:bigwink:

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up worn out screaming what a ride..
