I've seen hundreds of spay surgeries, neuter surgeries, tumor removals, etc., but I have never seen an entropion surgery.  I'm going in tomorrow on my day off to watch one.  I'm very excited to see this, even if it is a representation of the genetic crap people have bred into dog breeds.

Entropion is the turning inside out of an eyelid which is a fairly common genetic "whoops" in shar-peis.  That is the breed having the surgery tomorrow.  Other dogs do get it, but it seems to be most common in shar-peis.

Not having dealt with/seen one before, I am curious about how long it will take and the methods and techniques used.  If there are sutures, how difficult is it to take them out?  How the hell do you get a dog to lie still while you pluck sutures from its eyelid?  I'm pretty fired up about this "day off" excursion!

Has anyone ever had a dog with this genetic whoops?

I personally haven't owned a dog with entropion, but a dog at the shelter I donate to has just recently done this surgery to a resident dog named Magic.  You can read about Magic here (third one down the page):

Ya know....dammit, Susan.....it's bad enough that I want to bring home every abandoned, abused, hurt and neglected dog and cat that I come across at the hospital; you go and post a story about a dog which looks so similar to Bogey (other than the white patch on Magic's chest) that I'd sell my damn car to get her this surgery.  Thanks ever so.

Neat, UTR.  Keep us posted.  I decided too late in life that it would have been neat to learn to be a vet tech.  I think if my life had a do over, that is what I would do.

UTR...did you see the update on Magic at that URL?  She's already had the surgery and is doing fine. :D  I was one of her "guardian angels".

Well hell.  This sucks.  The owner and Doc had some issues and the surgery is postponed.  I won't say anything other than people who spend money on their pets seem to think they are owed big financial breaks.  We'll get it straightened out and I'll report back here once the surgery does happen.  I guess I have more time today to get some other stuff done that needs doing.  *sigh*
