What is your ideal picnic spread?  Any must haves on the menu?

I think the garden variety, American picnic is mine...hot dogs, hamburgers, macaroni and potato salads and some good desserts.

And don't forget toasting marshmallows.

We usually just cook out on the grill on our deck.  My husband cooks delicious baby back ribs.  I like to make corn on the cob and he likes to have a baked potato.  Of course I make a green salad to accompany all these carbs...lol.  Sometimes I make my homemade macaroni salad for a special treat.

Of course your hamburgers and hotdogs are great too! We HAVE to cook outside tonight now. :drool:  ::chuckle::  ::eats::

Has anyone ever been to a pig roast?  Where you build the big spit out of cement blocks, get a good wood fire going and do that baby up?  My brother did a couple of good ones.  They are great.  The pork tastes different from the way you have ever eaten it.

A real picnic basket type picnic always has fried chicken & potatoe salad. After that it is mostly the likes of the person(s) I am picnicing with, but usually sandwiches strawberries chips, cheese cubes and of course a good wine.
