How about anything goes!  Elk, Venison, Pheasant, Rabbit, Sea Food, Snake, Bear, Frog Legs, Buffalo!  Would you share a favorite way to prepare and cook any wild game a hunter might kill.................................::nsmile::

Venison can be cooked much like beef.  But remember there is little to no fat on them.  My brother gave me a roast last year, and I did it up as a pot roast in my crock pot and it turned out great.  I will check out a couple of links that my brother as used and post them here too.

That's how my mom cooked Venison too and it was Sooooooooooo GOOD!  I think with Elk, she cooked it up as tho it was steak.  My favorite was Elk because it didn't have a wild flavor. ::nsmile::

You can get some of that "gameiness" out of venison by soaking it in milk.

Thanks for the info.  I actually do not mind the gamey taste, but will remember that for future reference.

A lot of the "gaminess" depends on the age/sex of the animal. Testosterone

is nasty stuff!!

I like to make venison chili, that's the way I gave DH elk for the first time

and he loved it. He came to love just steaks on the Weber, too.

A little red vino marinade is nice for a lot of the meat.
