So, Rick and I were at the house of a friend of his.  We were sitting at the guy's bar, and I noticed a big gallon jar of maraschino cherries.  Anyway, Rick and his friend seemed to enjoy snacking on them.  So, I asked if I could have one.  They chuckled and said..yes, but just one.  I realised why after I ate it.  Dave had drained most of the juice out of the jar, and replaced it with vodka...then let it soak in for a couple of weeks.  Rather potent.

I can see it now..LC pulls me over, does a field sobriety test and I have to say, "But LC, all I did was eat some cherries".  But really, they were good.

Oh hell yeah!  Booze-soaked fruit is really popular.  For a Biker gathering Bullet and I go to we make watermelon soaked in a mix of equal parts of vodka and watermelon Pucker.  There's also cherries soaked in moonshine, which is a big hit with a lot of guys. I have a jar of those in my fridge that have been there for almost 2 years.  When Bullet gets to eat those, he will get hammered off of 2 of them!  Pineapple soaked in coconut rum is another good one.

Oh, UTR, you reminded me..I did try the pineapple once..this one was soaked in whiskey though.  We were out once, and they had a jar at the bar.  Not bad, but I liked the cherries in vodka better.

Not weird!  One of the bars I worked in we had a customer who only drank Baileys/rocks and kept a supply of bananas there just to dip and dunk.  Kinda like a donut in a coffee!

A fifth of Baileys in the freezer?  Indefinitely.  Open and anywhere else it will go bad.  It may taste a little odd after being in the freezer for so long, too.

It is a little slushy but it's so expensive I hate to throw it away. I transfered it to the regular frig to be disposed of on the 4th. it hasn't been opened yet.

It's damn expensive!  Have you ever tried any other brand of Irish creme?  There are some good ones out there at a significantly lower price.

Marie, have we hijacked  your booze-soaked fruit thread?
