Rick and I went out to dinner today at RoadHouse.  And for some unknown reason we got to talking about beers.  Where they come from, who makes the best, stuff like that.  I am not a big beer drinker, will usually take a sip or two of his if he orders it.

Did you know that in the UK they serve their Guinniss warm?  Or Room temp.  I did not know that till I read it in the Disney guide for our trip.  Really..at the UK Pavilion at EPCOT they serve it cold because that is the way WE are used to drinking it.

So, do you drink beer?  What do you like?  Have you ever tried from microbreweries?  Brewed your own.

I am making this a rather general thread, just for general discussion of Beer...so I guess it is on topic if you are talking about Beer.  And Frank..yes, you can talk about Root Beer and Birch Beer.  ::beer::

Guiness was served room temperature in several bars I worked in, so your information is not entirely incorrect.  One bar I worked had it both ways, as we had customers who wanted it both ways.

One of the best pilsners I had was a Alsatian beer I had on tap in Japan. I can't remember the name, but I was disappointed when I found it bottle a couple of years later.

I just found out it was Kronenbourg
.

I know that several bars in Cheltenham serve Guiness both room temperature and cold. Depends on the customer's taste I suppose.

We have lots of small breweries in the UK and they brew some fabulous ales. Some with very strange names.

Bishops Finger

Tanglefoot

Pigs Ear

Fursty Ferret

Monty Pythons Holy Grail (honest! Made by Black Sheep Brewery)

Old Hooky

Most are very tasty although I have only managed to taste them not drink a whole pint.

This is why you do not send hubby into the store alone. I sent him to the store for bread.  He came home with this:

Oh, and the bread too.

What a waste of perfectly good beer:

Incompetent beer hijackers spill precious, precious beer
Monday, February 11, 2008

Two men attempting to hijack a beer truck in London on Saturday ended up crashing the vehicle only a few hundred yards away, spilling beer canisters into the street and flooding the road with booze.

Police and a witness said two men, one reportedly brandishing a gun, forced their way aboard the truck as it was stopped on a street in Southall, west London.

The driver left the vehicle and the suspects jumped in, speeding off and toppling the truck over as it rounded a corner.

'Everything just poured out of it,' said Jags Khokhar, 27, who works at a nearby car garage.
'All the cans came out of the top half of the lorry, and there was spillage everywhere.'

The driver was unhurt in the incident and the two men escaped. Police said that the lorry's cargo has since been recovered. We're not sure how that claim ties in with the reports that the beer had spilled everywhere, but we'll be looking out for bits of road in our pints for the next few weeks.

I like a good cold DosXX or twelve when I drink . Especially as a chaser with tequilla. The thing about DosXX is that it was a German who started brewing this beer in Mexico. But, no matter about that, I think it is an excellant beer, along with New Castle Brown Ale.
