Is there anything you do for Christmas or New Years that is a traditon passed down from your cultural heritage? In Poland, on Christmas Eve they have a feast of 7 fishes. 7 different fish dishes. We did not do this often, but it was nice. Everything from appetizer to entree was fish. I developed a really good clam dip for the festivities. When I get home, I will get it out and post it.

Sure Marie! Although I'm Swedish, I'm adopted and my parents were English, so we traditionally put walnuts in the Christmas stockings along with the various toys, candies, and little presents. Here's the cool part, though...walnuts can be broken open along the seam by forcing a knife blade into the crack at the top. The two halves come apart perfectly with a little practice. Then you can hollow out the inside and put quarters or folded up bills in there. After that, use Elmer's glue to glue the two sides back together and you have what looks like an unopened walnut! We mix these "Christmas" walnuts in with regular ones, so you never know when you might get one with the money in it. For little children or people who have never seen this before, it's a really cool surprise! ![]()
